'E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial' (1982)

Steven Spielberg's family classic sports two flying bike scenes. Everyone remembers E.T. taking Elliott on his first flight, silhouetted against a full moon, an iconic sequence that has been imitated almost as often as the shower scene in "Psycho." But the climactic chase with Elliott and friends eluding the grown-ups to help E.T. get home is equally thrilling. What we love about both scenes is how the boys keep pedaling in midair, no doubt believing that if they stop, gravity will win out.
