And Twifans 'round the world squee, "The Tent Scene!" The MTV reporter who clearly did not do her research then goes on to ask him about his upcoming film "Remember Me," stating that it's "sort of very similar...maybe, has some feelings of 'Twilight' to it..." ["Remember Me" and the "Twilight" films are similar the way "About A Boy" and the "Batman" films are similar.] Fortunately for her Rob was gracious and just lightly laughed it off, but you can see he's quick to move on, presumably to find someone more informed to talk to about his body of work. LAST UPDATE BY DAZZLEDBYTWILIGHT AT 12/1/2009 8:11:26 PM "New Moon" director Chris Weitz spoke to MTV recently, giving us some scoop on the "New Moon" DVD: "There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material," he explained, promising some meaty footage. "It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans." Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows were shot but did not make the final "New Moon" cut, including:
Gee, I wonder if I should buy it... See the entire MTV interview here. Weitz also had a Q&A with Entertainment Weekly, where he talks about all things "New Moon": What were the highest and lowest points of making New Moon? The lows had to be shooting at 5 a.m. in a forest and struggling to get certain shots so a sequence would string together properly. It was a very cold forest in British Columbia, and we knew we’d have another night shoot just like it the next day. The highs were the moments of real identification with the actors. With Taylor, the moments early on when he realized he was going to do it. That was very gratifying to me. What do you think is Taylor’s best scene? When he jumps into Bella’s room. There is so much pathos there even though it’s melodrama, there’s something touching about it. Or maybe the last moment he has, just when he says Bella’s name. You sort of understand just how crushed he is at that moment. There are a few times where he’s absolutely that guy and it’s really lovely. He’s that guy for the fans and that’s what I always thought he could do. Do you think you’re going to get some boys into the theater for New Moon? I think so. I just hope it’s not just guys who were dragged there. And if they were dragged there, I hope some part of them is enjoying it. And I hope they can admit it if that’s the case. But if not, I hope they have a nice night with their girlfriend. I had an imaginary ad campaign saying “Will your girlfriend go in thinking of Edward, Jacob, or you.” I thought that would force men to go. Read the whole EW.com piece here. And last but not least, Cinematical talks "Breaking Dawn" and Summit Entertainment's desire to have Chris Weitz direct it: The other big question mark (aside from how you adapt the predominately darker Breaking Dawn into a film that will appeal to the tween and teen set) is who will direct. David Slade is currently helming Eclipse, the third installment in the Twilight franchise, and from the sound of things that's the only segment he'll be directing. Right now it looks like Summit wants Chris Weitz to finish out the series, which is why -- according to Variety -- they haven't yet closed the deal on The Gardener, which is the smaller, more personal film he wanted to direct next. But will Weitz commit to the back-to-back films, which are sure to keep him away from his family for several months? See the rest of Cinematical's article here. Follow me @TwiSuperfan! [Maybe that's why Richie Sambora was at the "New Moon" premiere...] I would be almost 100% sure that the SNL writers will come up with at least one skit where Taylor has to show off that famous eight-pack ("Don't worry Bella, it's just vomit," as he stands up and whips it off, Chippendale's style). And there has got to be at least another skit that spoofs "New Moon." I wonder if Taylor Swift, who hosted just a couple weeks ago, will make a guest appearance. MTV's The Hollywood Crush has come up with a few sketch ideas for Taylor Lautner, including a Cougar's Den episode (please do a cameo, Courteney Cox Arquette!) and another that addresses the issue of what happens to their briefs/boxers when a guy phases into a wolf. Check out the article here. SNL will still be in "Twilight" mode the following week, when James Franco is host and the musical guest is Muse, the only band who has earned a spot on both the "Twilight" and "New Moon" soundtracks. Source: HitFix LAST UPDATE BY DAZZLEDBYTWILIGHT AT 11/30/2009 5:37:26 PM Entertainment Weekly chatted up Tish Monaghan, the costume designer for "New Moon" and "Eclipse." Does she dish on whether Edward Cullen is a boxers or briefs guy? Or if they needed the Jaws of Life to remove the wolf pack's snug denim cut-offs? Well, no. But she does talk about a lot of other very interesting costume-related issues! Some juicy bits about costuming Robert Pattinson: At the very beginning of the film, he has one school outfit, and then there’s Bella’s birthday party and disaster strikes. So Edward ends up in that same costume for the remainder of the film. I was thinking of just putting him in a dress shirt and a pair of pants, but Robert wanted to be in a suit. So I found a modern contemporary look that would be appealing to him and to the massive fan base, a very slim cut, and a fabric that to me was a bit Old World — this beautiful tweed fabric that we got out of England. It had the gray base, which is kind of essential for the Cullen characters in their cool tones, but also had little interesting flecks of blue, which is also Cullen, and a tiny little bit of rust, which I liked because Bella wears earth tones and that kinda linked her into the picture. When he goes to sacrifice himself, he’s in disrepair. Robert and Chris wanted his shirt to have a rip across the chest, so that’s what we gave him. It’s really kind of tragic to watch him take off his shirt, because he really is sacrificing himself. It looks like he’s just giving up. He’s exposing himself and he’s completely vulnerable, and he just takes his shirt off and he drops it at his feet with his eyes downcast. Then he gets attacked by Bella, who shoves him inside the doors. [Laughs] I don’t find it like a beefcake moment. It really is a moving moment, and I think Robert did a really amazing job for that scene. And more juicy bits...this time on Taylor and the wolf pack: They wanted the shorts as close-fitting to the leg as possible, whereas the natural tendency of the guys would be to have something baggier so that they didn’t look like they were wearing hot pants. [Laughs] So if I knew they were going to morph, then they had tighter-fitting shorts, and if they didn’t have to morph, then we would give them something a little bit looser and longer. There were lots of Levi’s, American Eagle, Old Navy. Quite honestly, I tried to shop where I figured the wolves would shop. [Laughs] So we went to Wal-Mart. Everything was geared towards making sure that his [Taylor's] arm muscles really showed. There’s a scene where he’s working on a motorcycle, and his muscles are really pulling against this plaid shirt he’s wearing. He looks very strong and very built, and we tried to do the same with this T-shirts. There was no way since it was the same actor that we could show somebody that had grown like six inches. So it was Chris Weitz’s genius idea to tailor his clothes, to make the sleeves a little bit shorter, a little bit tighter — make it look as if he’d grown out of his clothes in a couple of months and hadn’t had time to go get new ones. There's a whole lot more on the Volturi and the Cullen women. Read it all here. Follow @TwiSuperfan! LAST UPDATE BY DAZZLEDBYTWILIGHT AT 11/30/2009 11:09:50 AM Rick Thurber, owner of Artisan's Designs--a three-person company working out of a funky office building in downtown Portland, Oregon--had never heard of "Twilight" in February 2008. He's still not quite sure how his little company was chosen by the prop master for "Twilight," but the team was happy to take on the "challenge of turning drawings provided by the filmmakers into actual jewelry." Thurber and his team--which include goldsmiths So for Thurber, Alton and Estes, crafting the Cullen family crest pieces in silver was just another job. "We weren't thinking it was going to be as big as this," Alton says. "No clue," Estes agrees. "We kind of thought the movie was going to go to video," Alton adds with a laugh. "I mean, vampires?" They also created the Volturi crest for "New Moon," which appears on the chairs in their coven. Read the whole article here. And follow me @TwiSuperfan! LAST UPDATE BY DAZZLEDBYTWILIGHT AT 11/30/2009 10:09:41 AM Box Office Mojo has some amazing statistics for the opening weekend of "New Moon."
In comparison, here are the figures for "Twilight," which opened November 21, 2008:
Box Office Mojo also reports that "Summit Entertainment's exit polling [for New Moon] indicated that 80 percent of the audience was female and 50 percent was under 21 years old, which means the sequel skewed more female and younger than the first Twilight. The sequel's success speaks to how pleased with the first movie moviegoers were, and the marketing upped the ante with the promotion of a new werewolf love interest in addition to the vampire one as well as a grander canvas for the story." Box Office Mojo's charts also show "New Moon" to have the #1 ranking in the following categories:

I like to think that my tastes have grown more sophisticated by now, but I may be delusional. I do see movies and read books in a wide range of genres, and I enjoy them immensely. But when it comes down to it, I love the escapism and otherworldliness that fantasy brings me. I can't yet discuss The Deathly Hallows without choking up. I've watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy so many times that the DVDs might actually be wearing down. I get a wistful look in my eye when I think about the Arthurian legends. And when I watch Twilight, I actually giggle like a schoolgirl when Edward first walks into the cafeteria. Hey I'm not a nerd, I'm a geek. Huge difference, right? So I love geeky games and gadgets. But I am also very social, I love clothes and makeup, I can sing and dance, I like the outdoors, and I enjoy my drink. I guess that makes me...a well-rounded geek? WYSIWYG. More about me.
