A Bit of Fry and Barry

Stephen Fry in AmericaBritish comedian Stephen Fry is a busy, busy beaver. He's quippy on Twitter, hosts a site with bells and whistles, is filming lots of shows, seems to have lost weight and looks about 20 years younger, is championing Oscar Wilde, and will be on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" this week.

Stephen has a new book, "Stephen Fry in America: Fifty States and the Man Who Set Out to See Them All." Admirable for a non-Yankee. It looks like the book and a BBC miniseries of the same name has been out in the UK since 2007. I don't think Stephen is touring for the book which is a shame.

Peter and the Sword of MercyAlso on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" this week are Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson with their new book "Peter and the Sword of Mercy." They are great fun in person and still have a few stops left on their book tour CULMINATING in some events at Walt Disney World. If you get a chance to see them, you'll hear a very funny story about what it's like to spend twenty minutes in a locker room alone with Peter Pan...

Dave and Ridley
are touring America in a decorated SUV. The graphic wrapping seems to create blind spots and Dave may have 'brushed' a cyclist. Also, I saw this car in the bookstore parking lot, and at first glance it looks like a Bible-mobile, the 'S' in 'sword' is hard to see, so if a car that says "Word of Mercy" is coming straight at you, be sure to get out of the way.

Watch out for the Word of MercyDave and Ridley's last few stops:
November 4 - Poisoned Pen, Phoenix, AZ
November 5 - Bookcase Wayzata, MN
November 12 - St. Louis County Library
November 13-14 - Walt Disney World events (those lucky devils!)

Also, the always gorgeous artwork of Mary Blair has been compiled in a new Walt Disney's Peter Pan with story by Dave and Ridley. This jpeg doesn't do it justice.
