Some of modern cinema's best temptresses and women of mystery By Jeff Michael Vice Make no mistake about it: We did appreciate how the at-the-time-dainty actress Rooney Mara transformed herself into a pierced and tattooed tail-kicker for audiences and director David Fincher in his Americanized film remake of the best-selling novel "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." Still, the actress seemed a bit too slender — even a bit scrawny — to play author Stieg Larsson's most memorable character, revenge-minded hacker Lisbeth Salander. For our money, the unknown-at-the-time actress Noomi Rapace brought the right balance of muscular toughness and emotionally wounded vulnerability to play Lisbeth in the original, Swedish-language film (2009).
