Kanye West
When his fourth studio album, 808s and Heartbreak, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard
charts in November, 2008 finally started to look up for Kanye West, whose
scuffles with the paparazzi in Los Angeles and London led to a few run-ins with
the law this year.
The hip-hopping graduate was one of many celebs this year who used their
blogs to defend themselves against bad press. West posted an unusually long rant
about the unfair world that allows the paps to violate his private space.
"WHO'S WINNING, ME OR THE MEDIA?" he demanded.
"REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH LIGHT I PUT OUT, THERE ARE PEOPLE WORKING JUST AS
HARD TO ONLY DELIVER DARKNESS. IF YOU LISTEN TO MY MUSIC, HOW COULD I DELIVER SO
MANY POSITIVE UPLIFTING MESSAGES AND BE THE MONSTER THAT THE MEDIA PAINTS."
It was a different kind of post for KanyeUniverseCity.com, which mostly
involves Kanye-driven musings on topics like girls, toys and design. To see and
