Best: Sandra Bullock
Remember when we all loved "Speed" and "While You Were Sleeping" Sandra
Bullock? That was a long time ago, wasn't it? As in, we were just leaving high
school or entering college or maybe even graduating kindergarten. So, now we're
all adults, and guess what? We still love Sandra Bullock. And guess what else?
She looks exactly the same. (How is that possible, Sandy? Are you drinking
whatever Johnny Depp is drinking?) Miss Bullock has released three pictures this
year ("The Proposal," "All About Steve" and "The Blind Side"), one of which,
"The Proposal," made millions and millions domestically and was beloved by
audiences. For better or for worse, it was the romantic comedy that would not
die. For a movie star who is (gasp!) over 40, she's still got star appeal:
sexiness, down-to-earth humor and charm. I would like to see her extend her
range (and I think she can, she was a terrific Harper Lee in that other Capote
biopic, "Infamous"), and with all of these hits maybe she'll do just that. As
I've said before about Bullock (and about many other actors who can bring in an
audience): No matter what you think of her, she didn't have to transform into a
talking robot to draw a crowd. And that seems just wonderfully old-school
Hollywood if you ask me. (Walt Disney Pictures)
