9. "Juno": The offbeat comedy
about a smart-mouthed high school goofball (Ellen Page) who finds herself pregnant after the
experimental seduction of her hopelessly smitten best friend Bleek (Michael Cera) became the underdog success story of
2007, a bundle of joy with heart, charm, intelligence, and wit to spare. The DVD
is designed with its fans in mind. "I like DVDs that show deleted scenes and I
like to see how films come together," explains director Jason Reitman on the bonus features, and this DVD
does just that, with great cut scenes (see Juno singing about being pregnant at
an open-mic night) and revealing screen tests of the young stars. You can see
their characters and relationships being formed right there.
