Synopsis: In this thriller, a baby-sitter is terrorized by an anonymous telephone caller who turns out to be a particularly persistent serial killer. Despite its effective opening sequence and villain Tony Beckley's chilling telephone manner, When a Stranger Calls is actually a rather tepid thriller filled with interminable chase sequences, hackneyed suspense motifs, silly red herrings, and flat acting.
