Gore Verbinski is a rare entity in Hollywood -- a mainstream director who isn't pigeonholed into one genre. He made a distinctive imprint on horror (The Ring), adventure (Pirates of the Caribbean), and finally, the mid-budget melodrama The Weather Man.
