Synopsis: A large, dysfunctional family awaits word on a loved one's fate in this domestic drama starring Susan Sarandon as Mag Singer, mother of seven sons. Packing the lives of a large and disparate family into one film that runs under 100 minutes is no mean feat, and unfortunately, Safe Passage falls well short of being either revelatory or moving. Whatever virtues of subtle character interplay that Ellyn Bache's source novel possessed are paved over in this steamroller of a film.
