Synopsis: Kids offers a bleak, unblinking view of a group of vacuous, thoughtless New York City teens in their ceaseless quest for sex, drugs, and trouble. This brutal look at the irresponsible promiscuity and drug abuse of some New York teenagers wore its outlaw status on its sleeve when released unrated, and is admittedly pretty rough stuff. Oddly enough, while young screenwriter Harmony Korine has a great ear for dialogue and understands that the behavior of certain members of his generation is reckless, he somewhat soft-pedals the consequences.
