Synopsis: Popular Hong Kong actor Simon Yam, who had previously portrayed serial killer Lam Guo-wen in a television miniseries, plays his fictionalized counterpart in this gore-soaked exploitation film from producer-director Danny Lee. This shocker from Hong Kong is a suitably grim affair but doesn't have the power its cult reputation suggests. The first problem is the script, which presents the psychology of its killer in an amateurish, unconvincing style and also inserts a distracting amount of bawdy, often slapstick humor into a story where it doesn't belong.
