Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  WonderousPosted: 5/17/2006A review of Wicker Park by Britchick491 Its very euro and very non american from the chronology to the soundtrack and to the cinematography. It was trying to create that lost love, we found eachother again vibe...adding in a little bit of suspense. Which to me it did, but to many others i can understand why they found it puzzling and weird. The main character Matthew played by Josh Hartnett was engaged to a lady in the beginning and eating lunch with her when all of a sudden we see him in a phone booth and then going absolutely crazy over some other chick which we couldnt exactly finger point if they KNEW eachother or not. The psycho girl in the movie does not seem pyscho at all in comparison with Hartnetts character. The movie is kind of a play on words. But at the same time it is compelling and you cannot stop watching it. The love between Matthew and Blonde Lisa is something else, although rather fleshy and seemingly only that way. The relatiionship between psycho Lisa and Matthew Lillard as well as Hartnett is humorous and wild. The ending of the fiml is great, truly coulnt be better..it doesnt need words..it just needs that song and the clothes and the darkness of the whole situation at hand. The soundtrack is great and the cinematography so suitable with the fim topic. Because after all Love makes you do crazy things. Was this review helpful? It didnt make sense. I watched it again in a quieter environment. Lo and behold it is a remarkable movie! It really makes you try and predict the outcome during the movie and knows when to stop and let the character in on the whole story. The ending is worth the price of the movie alone! I made my sister watch it as well and she felt the same way. It is a very powerful and emotional ending that leaves you feeling great. The only reason people are confused by it, is because the trailer and previews make it out to be like a thriller or maybe even a horror flick. In reality its a tragic love story with a kick ass ending that never fails to make me cry.. Yes its a chick movie and yes there are tense moments in the movie and yes Josh looks hot but if you can overlook those minor details you will find an enjoyable, unique and extraordinary smart persons love story. Now that I saw it, it isn't as good as it could have been. I was confused during the whole movie and found it was way too complicated for a truly enjoyable flick. It seemed like part of it was wrong. In the beginning it showed Lisa crawling out the window and it seems she's just meeting Alex but later during a flashback they're shown as being the best of friends. Confusing! In this movie, we saw the movie company try to make it all artsy but everyone that knows about love stories and romantic type movies saw right through that because we all know the Americas are filled with fast food chains, drive throughs for almost every business (real estate is next), and efficient type living which completely kicks away the whole depth they were trying to achieve with this movie (being based on the states that is). Therefore, I give this a 3....It could of been better if they had added more american zest to it, making more unique than just a regular "done that" euro style pic. Was this review helpful? I thought oh, no another chick flick., cause I like comedies, and action movies, but then it turned out to be really suspenseful! I work for a movie theater for over 8 months now and its about (in my opinion) one of the greatest movies ever. I have seen it 3 times, and it does take some "thinking" with the flashback memories, time swatches, and split screen images, but at the end is this huge, "WOW" effect, because it all comes together in collaboration to keep the whole audience touched and amazed. Chick Flick? Definitely! But i totally recommend everybody to go see this movie!!! Im taking my sister tomorrow night to see it... :-D Was this review helpful?
