SLLLLOOOOOWWWW to start, once it got going it moved along okay. Predictiable story line, mostly. Simply average. Watched right before "GONE BABY GONE" and that was much better... Eva Mendez was good eye candy and a good actress. Not a must see but entertaining. Was this review helpful? This movie moves slow and is not as action packed as the trailer may seem. If you like long drawn out dramas this is the movie for you. Was this review helpful? It was average at best - save your money and wait for the DVD. Was this review helpful? It was not bad at all...just not as exciting as I would have hoped. Joaquin and Mark make the most out of every role because they are such gifted actors, and there were some descent scenes, but overall I thought it would have been a little better. I adore Mark Wahlberg and waited with great anticipation for it to come out. What movie with this cast could go wrong? Well, this one did, big time. Joaquin Phoenix mumbled through the entire movie, I barely ever understood a word he said. Not even a rental. Was this review helpful? It was very slow moving and seemed like it may never end. I kept waiting on something to get it going but it never materialized. The acting was solid but I was really surprised that I was BORED throughout the film. I'd skip this one, even though it has a fantastic lineup of Actor's they weren't able to make it interesting. I can't help thinking what a great film it would be if Martin Scorsese was the man in charge. Was this review helpful? It did it's best to be the departed's spin off but the script was terrable, the acting was just ok, and the story dragged for days. It was the longest 2hrs of my life.. SKIP IT Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 10/12/2007A review of We Own the Night by Bud400 Got my friday night. Dont let them get yours. Or your afternoon. Or any damn time. Horrible movie. Was this review helpful? A little boring at times, but it kept my interest. Kudos for Mark Walburg and Joaquin Phoenix for producing a good film! I look forward to their next film! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 10/11/2007A review of We Own the Night by ungrinch This is a very well produced and good-looking movie about east coast cop world vs. the underground illegal druggie world. The main characters are a family, black sheep brother in the nightclub biz and the others on the police squad trying to help him back into the flock. Biggest gripe: I think the unimaginative casting holds it back actually... several of these actors have played these roles several roles before! And recently! It's like, are we still watching Departed? :-D Relatively predictable and a bit underpaced, it still will hold your attention, but don't expect any Oscars out of this one. Note - Eva Mendez is the most beautiful actress in HW! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-14 of 14 Per Page | ||
