Sign In 1 out of 2 users found this helpful I have it on videotape and watch it often with the kids. This movie was the first time I had ever even heard of Tommy Lee Jones or Anne Heche. Taken as a whole, the acting was good to excellent, Tommy Lee Jones' dry delivery, as an actor, understated the character he was playing. The script could have been better, Mr. Roarke (Jones) could remind the police chief who is boss (Jones) when an emergency is declared, and they should work together, instead of being at odds all of the time. When asked for an example of a geologic event in the L.A. area, Heche's co-worker could cite the Tar-pits, she could also remind Jones that all of the seismic activity is just asking for something like that to happen. The part I liked most was the Special Effects. Mostly I liked the Mastodon sinking in the Tar-pits. I found it hard to believe that a precision drop of a building could be done in that amount of time, I can appreciate what goes into something like that, but, I still enjoyed seeing it happen. It was also satisfying to know that all the time/effort of that a**h**e who had the building built in the first place, was wasted. First his wife shoots him down, then his big concrete and steele erection comes down. How's that for symbolism. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-3 of 3 Per Page | ||
