It gives a stark contrast between the 'stiff and proper' with the release from moral restraints. It makes one think about the choices one must make in life. Is it better to 'play it safe'.....or explore the excitement and self fulfillment of free love?
I enjoyed the lack of special effects, violence, explosions and bloody gore. It is intended for a mature audience. It was an excellent movie. Was this review helpful? Off-center, abstract, disjointed storyline, and VERY strange....just like Woody Allen. The absurd use of a narrator added an odd, documentary feel to the movie. The clothing was awful (unless you like wrinkled linen) and no one in the movie owned a comb...or used one. There were a FEW good things....the setting was beautiful....Scarlett, Javier, & Penelope were strong in their roles. Waste of a talented cast. Was this review helpful? It was funny, thoughtful, outrageous, sad all rolled into one. I am a fan of Javier Bardem and have become a solid fan of Penelope Cruz. Where has Spain been hiding all this talent and give me more! I wasn't thrilled with Rebecca Hall's performance, could've been better. Seemed like giving this actress freedom to adlib, as Woody Allen does, perhaps didn't work for her. A little too much stumbling for words. this is the only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-3 of 3 Per Page | ||
