I am an adult who enjoyed much of the Pixar films...they are cute, fun, fast and innocent. I loved Wall-E, it was cute and the comedy really made me chuckle, it sent a poignant message about obesity and our constant humm of commercialism. What made Wall-E really enjoyable was that he was a likable guy, er robot. Despite being alone on a desolate earth he continued to work and find things that made him happy and eventually he found a girl robot and fell in love. Up features a crotchety old man after the death of his wife many years prior he has become a reclouse that hates humanity. He has wasted much of his life lamenting her death and dreaming of grand adventures that passed him by. Really sad stuff. Although, he tries to make up for it I left with a sense of, damn that poor man wasted most of his life being angry and resentful. You can't make up for that. Life is prescious. The comendy in up was sparse, (the trailer has the only remotely funny parts in the movie (My BIGGEST PET PEAVE))the plot slow and predictable. The message was adult the comedy didn't make me break a smile because I already saw it in the 30 sec. commercials.

The film was okay but, to me, it won't be too memoriable. It has a story, at least, a good one concerning the old man, but "Up" isn't among Disney-Pixar's best films thus far.

This movie has a really cute story. Up is about a man trying to suceed the promise he made to his wife. Its really different from other movies! Its The best Disney movie. Good for any age and gender. I went to see it for my birthday party which had 11 girls and 1 guy and both of my parents and of course me. Everyone liked it. Two girls were crying! This movie is really sad and really funny. Everyone needs to see it!

An amazing film that delighted my 6 and 7 year old kids. A film that equally delighted my husband and I as well as our parents. A film that is meaningful for your age group and stage of life. My kids laughed at all the fresh, funny jokes (as did we) but made us think as well. Are we really living our lives the way we want? It helped jump start many conversations with ourselves and our kids about living our one life to the fullest extent. That not only am I here to help my kids dreams come true but my own. And now my kids know that adults have dreams, hopes and wishes! See this film and love it however you like, but you will love it in layers.

Posted: 7/2/2009A review of Up by Cglass161
We thought the movie was very sweet, especially in this day and age, where the young always seem to be in conflict with the old. The only real problem, that we had with it, was the 3D effects. It was very expensive with the surcharge for 3D glasses. We had 3D glasses, from a previous movie, but still had to pay the surcharge. We wouldn't have minded if the 3D effects were mind blowing, but they were not. Throughout the whole movie we kept waiting for a scene where 3D would blow us away, but it never happened.

Animated Fantasy done with the typical PIXAR panache. As a boy in the 40's, young Carl Fredericksen spent many an hour engrossed in the newsreels of the day centering on the exploits of his Hero Charles Muntz, the Great Geologist and Explorer. Visualizing and Adventurous Career of his own, Carl happens upon a like-minded girl named Elie who shares his goals and visions and the Dreams of a Grand Quest to the Mystical Paradise Falls. But Time moves relentlessly on and with the accruing years Carl falls victim to the fate of Widower becoming holed up in his and Elie's Dream House now threatened by a City's gradual encroachment on the surrounding Real Estate. In a last desperate stab to save their Treasured Memories and with the help of an uwitting Scout Stoaway, an overly Faithful Dog and an Elusive "Snipe" named Kevin, Carl embarks on what will prove to be the Grandest Adventure of a Lifetime. PIXAR Animation blatantly defies the "thrill-ride" pace of most modern Summer action dreck opting for story and character development which is, has been and shall always be the hallmark of any truly worthwhile cinema, in fact, it's getting to the point where just the mention of PIXAR associated with a Film is enough to make me beat a hasty path to the nearest Box-Office. With such Voice Talent as Ed Asner (Carl), Christopher Plummer (Muntz) and the enjoyable Jordan Nagai as Russell, Director Pete Docter assembles a skillful and warm tale with the whimsy of Dr. Seuss incorporating visual tributes to animated predecessors such as Warner Brothers, the Legendary Willis O'Brien and his landmark Silent Production of "The Lost World". Along with Vocal couterpoint by John Ratzenberger and the Great Bob Petersen as the Lovable "Dug", I can say unequivocally that by category of Animated Feature, 3-D Movie or Wonderful Fantasy, this is the Finest Piece that I've ever seen.

I never go to the movies, too much money. So when I do go, I like to try to pick a good one. I've seen a few commercials for this movie, but nothing caught my eye. I was going to go see Year One. I was afraid that they showed all the funny parts in previews. My mother took me and my son to see Up 3-D. How very disappointing. The only cool thing is, I loved the 3-D improvements. Spectacular Effects! Movie was slow, I could not wait for it to end. I can't say not to go, because my mother said she loved it, my son said it was ok. It's like any other movie. Slap down at least $50 bucks, and take your chances. My good friends, I will tell them if they absolutely have to see this, WAIT FOR DVD. I should have waited 3 days for Transformers!
