I think Violet(Milla Jovovich) is a female 007. Milla, to me, is a top-notch actress that I love even though she is in a film or she is off-camera doing something different. Was this review helpful? Pure entertainment for an action thriller. Milla looks stunning as always, coupled with the attitude she backs up with high flying fights. There were some slow spots but I caught myself holding my breath a couple of times so I needed the breaks. Good clean fun.
I really hope they bring Ulta Violet back for more action!!!! Was this review helpful? I loved the storyline, and was on the edge of my seat with my nephew wondering about the boy, and kept on thinking he was connected this way and that. The effects were awsome and not overplayed. I loved the fight scenes they were new and inventive. I am glad I bough the DVD so we can watch it again and again. Was this review helpful? Thankfully I missed this one at the theater. Watching the I put this movie high on a scale of 1-10. Im very glad I just rented it and saw it when I had some time AND EXTREMELY GLAD I DIDNT TAKE A DATE TO SEE IT AT A THEATER OR WATCH IT WITH ME ON THE RENTAL!!
The story was weak and the action gets old very quick, since she is like superman meets matrix meets underworld meets catwoman...etc etc... she just kills everything so fast and the cheesy background music during the action scenes just make it worse. Theres plenty of shoot em up action in this flick, but when it comes to the storyline, it seems to be buried underneath all the gunfire. Ultraviolet seemed to have some potential but never took advantage of it. Nothing is taken away from the actors here, they proved their talents, but the movie never really grabs your attention aside from all the action---A little more focus on the story next time would make a much better movie! When you go to view anything there is always a chance that it will not be to your liking, but everyone is really overdoing it on this one. It wasnt that bad. The dialogue wasnt good and yes the plot would appear to have holes in it, but you had to understand what they were trying to achieve. They were going for anime done with real people. It wasnt a fake comic book theme, but a manga theme. If you arent into anime this would fly right past you. I thought it was an extremely wonderful attempt. It paves the way for other people to make even better attempts or hit it right on the head. Most people who watch anime in this country dont get it and feel it doesnt make sense because they dont understand it, but they make plenty of sense with deep underlying meanings that just arent easily recognizable by American culture. We want things to easily add up right before our eyes. This is why I feel so many user reviewers say the film was horrible. In truth, it was visually stunning, most of the buildings in the movie actually exist in Shang Hai. The effects and cinematography to me were great and inventive. The weaponry, its use, and how she carried them was very creative. And the way they used not just one, but an array of martial arts styles was exciting. I feel the next person who attempts such a hard feat of creating a live anime, will do even better. Dont watch this to for the plot, dialogue, or smoothness of storyline. This is for those who have some idea of anime-manga concepts and those who want to be visually entertained. Was this review helpful? As I reed other user reviews so many people have hated this movie. People are not even writing full reviews just saying how terrible and how horrible this movie is, and that is how they leave there review.
Well why dont you tell us why you did not like this movie? What were the things you did not like? What would make this movie better? How would you have made this movie?
I love to read other peoples reviews, I love to hear what people have to say about movies.
But I hate when people just tell us this movie stinks write more why does it stink. So when I see these reviews and I scroll down to the little box that says Was this review helpful? I have to click No.
I have to go against the user reviews and the critics review and say Ultraviolet was a good movie.
Yes there are silly scenes, but the movie is true it knows what it wants to do and it does it. It is set in the future and there are a lot are future toys and machines and I think that is what makes the movie so cool.
There is so much action in this movie and I cant believe that one person said this is a boring movie. Even if you did not like this movie how in the world could you say it was boring. I have seen movies that were really bad but they were not boring.
The action scenes were done so well. It uses color and texture so perfectly.
Ultraviolet has outstanding visual effects.
Ultraviolet is a action packed film.

I was embarassed to walk out of the theater after it was over for fear Id see someone I knew. I saw this at the dollar theater and it was still a waste of money, If I would have seen it at a regular theater I would have shot myself on the spot for wasting that much money. It was so terrible that it was probably the funniest movie ive seen all year. So if you want a good laugh, illegaly download it off the internet, but for gods sake, dont waste any money. I was horrible. I wasted my money going to see this, even my friends, who I went with said it was boring. I could have slept through this whole movie and that would have probably been more exciting. The vampire-type theme and whatever else was involved, I didnt really understand . I cant even remember how the movie went. Im kind of glad I forgot its purpose. I also found myself having the same argument as bigmouthimanis parents. My friend and I kept placing blame back and forth on whose fault it was we were even there. She took blame for choosing the movie, I took blame for not leaving. I kept hoping it would get better...it never did. I can honestly say that was the worst movie I have seen in ten years. I dont want the money back, luckily it was a matineé, but I would like that wasted time of my life back! Unfortunately that is not possible so Ill just spend the next month trying to erase all mind numbingly awful memories of the movie, from my conscious brain. I enjoyed it. I dont think the story line was very strong. It left questions. But the effects were cool, it kept moving, bottom line....if anyone likes action, strong female roles without sex scenes, martial arts, neat effects, cool lighting.....and doesnt mind if the movie makes you think, ponder or question here and there, then it would be a cool evening.
