Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful  Da planes....Top Gun is not a fantastic movie-- the plot is weak, and the characters are never really fleshed out. So why on earth would I give this movie 4 stars?
Simple. This is some of, if not the best aerial footage ever shot. Tome Cruise and Kelly McGillis were not the stars of this movie-- the F-14 Tomcats were.
I first saw this movie as an 8th grade girl. When I came out, I didn't want to marry Tom Cruise. I wanted to do whatever it took to fly one of those beautiful, amazing machines.
In fairness, the plot and characters do form a tolerable basis for the flying sequences. Enough to keep you interested, and surprisingly, a good job of showing the good (wine, women and song) and bad (Goose, Mav's father) of naval aviation.
I keep this movie around simply to watch the flying. The Tomcat has a terrible beauty to it, and the movie shows this perfectly. Was this review helpful? This movie has a good story (a romantic story and action). I saw TOP GUN
for mamy and many times (I cant count them) and if you want to see a film that left you happy I consider that this is the best film for you! I wish that I was instead of Kelly Mcgills!! lol!! i went on to join the royal air force, and even purchased a red motorbike.
My girlfriend at this time was taller than me, and had curly long hair, very similar to mcgillis.
That movie certainly mafe an impression on me, im currently into the japanese samurai, for some strange reason

Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and Kelly McGillis make this a never forgetable movie. A Most Own for every household. Was this review helpful? I also like the story line of Mavrick trying to live up to his dad's legend, and how he deals with his friend's death. Tom's also not too bad on the eyes!! Was this review helpful?
