This is one of the dullest, most boring movies of the year. Dark, dreary, monotone and painfully slow. Zero stars is not an option but very deserving for this film.

I watched the earlier BBC television series on DVD. I watched Alec Guineness as George Smiley. I think it helped to know the story and have some idea about the sequence of events. Also, I watched the interview with John le Carre. He was absolutely fascinating explaining how a spie's personality and view of the world originates and develops over the years. I loved this movie, and everyone in the theatre was very quiet and concentrating on the movie as the tension of who is the "mole" built in the first 1/2 of the movie? It is a slow moving, thinking movie, no bang n' up shoot n' up, here. Gary Oleman was an excellent George Smiley. I liked the original killing of the "mole" (Bill) than the bullet shot below Bill's L eye. Also, there was more stalking of Bill before he was murdered in the first version. Not all movies have to be flashy. This is just good story, excellent acting, and a story you will not forget.

I saw this on a preview, and I have to say it is the first movie in my life that I have ever walked out of. It was so slow and boring about 10 other people walked out at the same time as me. Even an amazing ending wouldn't have made up for the extremely slow boring 1 1/2 hours.
