This was an incredible story. Tim Burton is blessed with talent. I love his creative style in animation. I loved every moment of this movie from the beginning to the end. It has laughter sadness and a great touch of reality. I will always be a Tim Burton fan. I seriously loved this movie. This is a great movie to see, if you want to just get away from the real world. Anyone who hates this movie, seriously has issues, because there wasnt a single thing wrong with this movie. Id recommend it to everyone who wants to see a comedy mixed in with a childrens animated movie. Its golden, I guess, but a little disturbing in some parts. Its better than Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas, and I loved that movie too. I thought the only sad thing about this movie was when the lead character thought he had made a mistake in marrying the Corpse Bride. That was the only depressing thing about it. Nothing more, nothing less. But honestly now, I need to get back to work. Take it easy, peoples. Was this review helpful? I truly enjoyed the storyline and character development. I saw where some people were whining about showing this movie to children. Just because a movie is animated does not mean that it is for kids. That being said, I found nothing in this movie that was so horrible as to frighten small children. Real life is much more scarey. This is a very good movie. I highly recommend it. I really liked the way it was done but it was kinda obvious who the evil guy was at the end because cmon he looked EVIL to begin with. I mean, who chuckles like that? a good person? depp plays the stuttering victor in amazing voice talents and i liked the way carters character looked...young and innocent. the ending was disappointing though. ive read and watched a lot of disappointing endings and this is just another one.
I thought that her vengeance on the Count wasnt good enough to avenge her death. Was this review helpful? The animation was amazing, but it just didnt have that Feel The Nightmare Before Christmas had. The ending was just...not satisfying. It just ended and movies need to leave you wondering. But dont get me wrong, the rest of the story was beautiful, backed up by wonderful voice talents. I suggest renting this first (and make sure your kids wont be scared by this, Im not sure how well 9 years or younger can handle dead people running around), but all in all, if youre the type who loves morbid films or just a huge Tim Burton fan (as I am) then by all means go buy this movie. This pretty much sums up Tim Burtons Corpses Bride.
Alright, you have to love Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, they were good. From outlandish pirate to nervous Victor, Johnny Depp played it perfectly.
The animation is reminiscent of Burtons previous work (tall skinny characters tend to be the rage). Kids will probably love it and adults will probably be fascinated by it (at least I was with Carters character in her flowing bluish wedding gown).
The problem however is the storyline. Im not sure if its suitable for kids, not that its rated R or anything. Its just that the plot is more on an adult level. For one thing, theres the love triangle between the three main characters (not developed well by the way) and the whole marrying into the aristocracy in exchange for wealth... seriously, how many 6 year olds out there would really care or understand the implications?
Theres not much development in the movie. Its like youre given a few images here and there and then expect to develop a true grasp for the plot. I think that if the attention was as focus on the plot as the animation, the movie could have been way better.
Catch it at the theatre if youre really interested, but save that 20 bucks or so on the DVD. Was this review helpful? Tim Burton is an abosolute genious and creates wonderful and absolutely amazing films. His imagination gives me chills! Its a great movie with a great story that is tied to an old folk story...you should read the orginal stroy (kinda creepy!). Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Amazing!Posted: 2/3/2006A review of Tim Burton's Corpse Bride by sprite-heart-blue1415 For those who have fallen in love with Burtons movies (consisting of Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare before Christmas and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, not to mention his much older movies such as Vincent and Frankenweenie) will enjoy this movie, not as much as those who enjoyed The Nightmare before Christmas, but very close. It makes you feel comfortable, knowing that even if your life doesnt go too well, you will have a blast in the afterlife.
Who knows, maybe you will find yourself engaged to a deathly ravishing Fiance like Victor. 5 stars, and 2 bony fingers up, this movie is awesome, and not like the usual Fairytales replayed and overplayed. If you are sick of the beautiful princess in peril or the dashing prince, you will find that this one is a keeper. Was this review helpful? The movie rated PG , but my stepkids mother thinks it is a demon movie and does not allow the kids to watch it ... What a unacquaimntance person!it is such a shame
