Direction by Jonathan Frakes set just the right tone for a Thunderbirds movie. I loved the "tribute to the original" shot. Good casting too. Lady Penelope was portrayed perfectly as was the Parker character. Don't expect a "revamped" Thunderbirds that might be more in line with current attitudes. This is a film true to the original series. Like me, you'll probably be including this one in your DVD collection. Was this review helpful? This movie makes a good successor, covering thrills & camp (that poor Brit girl's teeth!) to make a fun experience. I heard little kids around me breathing "Cool!" over the vehicles & generally enjoying the whole movie. Was this review helpful? I now watch the DVDs with my 5 year old. I took her to the movie and we both had a great time. Like others on here have said, she is now running around saying "Thunderbirds are Go!". Very cute indeed. I really liked the adaptation to live action. It worked really well for me. BTW, I based my rating on my expectations from watching the original TV series. Was this review helpful? I took a half dozen 12-14 year olds and they all loved it and I didn't mind having had to take them ... mindless entertainment, including several outright laughs. Lady P is a delight, Parker a hoot and all the girls in the group found one or more of the Tracy men to be delightful eye candy. I ended taking my daughter a second time today. Enjoyed seeing my 6 year old grandson really get into the movie as though he were there. Those who were only exposed to the cartoon version in the 80's may be disappointed though. The movie pays true homage to the original TV series. The vehicles are exactly the same and the actors did an outstanding job portraying their marionette conterparts. As far as overall enjoyment of the movie, it's FAB. It's a great movie to take the family to. My boys age 3 and 5 are new TB fans. The only thing I didn't like was that the movie was dummied down and geared towards for kids a little to much. While it was great for introducing the Thunderbirds to a new generation of fans, some of the older fans my not take it as well. Oh and for those who only saw the cartoon in the 80's. Thunderbirds 2086 was the english dub of a japanesse anime called "Scientific Rescue Techo Voyager." While the vehicles in the cartoon were awesome, the TB on their sides were a total coincidence. The cartoon had nothing to do with the original tv series. Was this review helpful? This movie was the best I have seen in a long time. It seems that to make a sucessful movie today, one has to blend the lines between good and evil, to the point where they seem to blurr, and become an effort to discern. This movie does not do that. <br> With new machines, that look better than ever, digital imagery excellently blended, this was a very pleasing movie. When Alan had to make the choice between dropping the Hood, (which almost any normal person would have easily done) and saving him, (which is what Thunderbirds do) he proved his worth as a Thunderbird. <br> If you were not a follower of the origional series, you can still enjoy this movie. Just know that once on this planet, there was a series, who strived to save everyone, without being judgemental, or making complex decisions about who lives and dies.
