So, I just saw this movie the other night. To tell you the truth, I WAS expecting to see some good acting in this movie. And I got that. I wasn't sure about the story because I didn't watch the trailer. Berry and Del toro did their job, I personally am a fan of Del toro. I know he doesn't let anyone touch his hair, but still there were times when I just wanted to force a brush on his hair. The sad widow and a recovering addict were the strongest characters. If I had the chance I would have shed more light on only one character. There wasn't anything great about the story, but with the help of the actors it became good. In 2007 I have seen a lot of movies, but it has to be one the better ones.....much better than those two tarantino movies.

I was anxious to see this movie but it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. I didn't like the way it jumped back & forth between then & now, it was distracting. The actors were excellent and the drug addicted friend couldn't have been done better. The story as a whole was depressing but drug addiction & the loss of a loved one isn't a happy situation. Don't know if I'd pay to see it, I'd rather wait & see it on DVD.

This movie has so many themes, drug addition and rebirth, coping with loss, the beauty of an interracial marriage, children trying to cope with death of a parent, the death of a "good" person versus the person you thought should die, the grieving process...I could go on. I think that each of the primary actors did a wonderful job including Halle Berry. Eventhough, it was depressing, it makes you realize how vulnerable we all are and that we never know when death will come or how...

This is one of those movies you say to yourself, as you are watching, "This is a good movie". I will say that maybe 5 times in a year, and I see ALOT of movies. I really liked everything about the movie, and would gladly see again. David Duchovny is terrific, but Benicio Del Toro is unbelievably fantastic- His performance alone is worth seeing the movie for. Halle is Halle, beautiful, but still not convinced she is an Oscar winning actress. She is good in this, but can she lose the ghetto, "wachoo..." for "what you...", it doesn't work. I know she won, but so have others who were the one time flukes, especially newbies who in their next performance resemble the Oscar winning performance they won for. Overall, my favorite of the 3 for this weekend. Halle Berry, Benicio Del Toro, David Duchovny

This movie was of course depressing since it deals with drug addiction and the loss of a loved one, Duchovney did an exceptional job as the laid back perfect husband and Del Toro was fantastic as the loser and drug addict friend. Good chemistry between the cast, it was a little long at times, but the ending it worthwhile and it's a good message about rebirth and starting over, not too much make up ojn Halle here, but she still shines on the screen....
