So slow at the beginning, but I thought--ok, maybe it gets better...well NO it doesn't...just s-l-o-w-e-r...This is an enormous waste of time to watch this movie--I appreciate great films and the awards they win, BUT, this is not one of them and I cannot fathom how this won anything, except for maybe "put you to sleep the quickest" award! Noce cinematography, but that does not make it a great movie. I believe once again Hollywood has managed to slam the christians (Ely), The insanity that becoming rich brings, as well as the evil empire of the oil companies. So much, that I made it a family night for my kids who are older and my wife. It had everything to make a great movie: big money, westernish, and a great lead actor (he deserved the Oscar). Little did I know that the big money was comming out of my wallet when I paid for the tickets and treats. What was it lacking? A character that is worth caring for or about. I'm not one who has to have the Disney type ending, but this movie goer does need a charater he can identify with. And unless you are Cruella de Ville, this is far from a Disney ending. The movie had too many spots that didn't make sense for that characater. The movie will leave you with that "I should have waited for video" feeling. Was this review helpful? Resident evil? Good LuckChuck? Meet the spartans? maybee?? no..Meet the spartans may have too complex of a plot for you.. Was this review helpful? I pose a well written argument and you respond with sheer emotion because you have nothing else –including your supposed brains-. The pretention and possible narcissism that you are experiencing can most likely be fixed by visiting a shrink and therapy if you give it some time. If President Hilary tries to tax the energy companies they want this film to be fresh in our minds. It made energy companies, capitalists, and religion look bad. The only favorable characters were the handicapped orphan and the young girl who was abused by the religious fanatic. It was a very slow movie and I will definetly never watch it again. But DDL did an excellent job..... there just wasn't much of a point to the movie. I wouldnt' recommend this movie to anyone.
