The story is set in Shanghai in the early part of the century. Invasion looms, neverthe less a displaced politico seeks to fulfill his dream of opening a bar and cabaret against the odds. Enter an exiled down-on-their-luck Russian princess and her family and you have the stage set for a very absorbing story.
