It doesnt even rate one star. I was alternately bored and disgusted. I hope I can get my 4 back for the rental. I couldnt even finish it. I turned it off when it got to the pedophile part. At first I wasnt to sure of it because I thought it was a comedy. Once I realized it wasnt I was in awe of the message it realted. Like American Beauty it showed us the inside of one mans pschye and struggle with the pressures of life. Cages character showed his struggle and growth when evry thing seemed to be wrong. We could all learn to be more like Cages character and look at things from a diffrent perspective. Was this review helpful? This wasnt worth the 4 bucks for rental. I wanted my money back, couldnt even get to the end of the movie. Yikes What were you thinking, is right...The camel toe part was funny though.. It is closer to real life so you cant expect clowns running around. This movie is for mature people because it talks about family relationships, career and self-consiousness. Granted, the previews to this movie led you to believe that it was a laugh-out-loud charm fest about a run-of-the-mill weatherman, but understand that this is a drama. I thought the comedy was well placed and well done. The comedy in this movie is a little bit dark, so expect that. Nic Cage played the role to a T, and Michael Caine was very good as his father. It maintained its charm while mixing in the struggle he has with his divorice, and the pain of moving on all while trying to repair a fractured relationship with his children. Aside from a few slow moving parts, I thought the movie was really good. Not one of Cages best, but definately worth seeing. Was this review helpful? So if you want to lectured at, while, unfortunately, not being very entertained, then this is the movie for you. It is perhaps Cages worst film to date, a major disappointment, and can only harm the careers of all involved. Our movie group is 40-55 years old, and we all agreed this was the worst movie any of us had ever seen. I stayed to the end, telling myself it had to have something good about it, but it didnt. Worst movie I have ever seen. Eight of us ranging from 18 to 48 walked out half way through. Im actually less of a person for seeing it and spending money on it.
It will take a lot for me to go to a Cage movie again without reading more positive reviews.
I was so upset after walking out I tried to find the Manager of the theatre to get a refund. Even he had left. Was this review helpful? for those of you who didnt see it yet it was excellent. people ages 12 and up can see it because there is only one part with nudity. the other great thing about this movie is the humor...you should see this movie. I just cringed a handfull of times. This movie has its fair share of mundane comedy, but the scenes after was like going through the opponent process theory...how do you feel amused and dissapointed at the same time? Nicholas Cage -- not his best work. His character stutters like an ADD kid and in some scenes acts like one. However, one of the best scenes was the one with his daughter at the department store.
