Sign in 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Entertaining Adult ComedyPosted: 8/19/2009A review of The Ugly Truth by Everybodyhasone I saw this movie after having a big fight with the hubby so I wasn't in the greatest of moods. Yet within a few minutes I was laughing out loud - which I very rarely do at movies! It was very entertaining, and I don't think the language detracted from the show one bit. They were talking about sexual relationships between men and women for crying out loud, what words did you expect them to use? As my now 82 year-old mother would say, if you've lived this long and haven't heard such things, you haven't lived! Besides, they - with the exception of a couple of scenes - are just words! Yes, its romantic-comedy ending is a forgone conclusion, but it looks like everyone had a lot of fun getting there. I know I certainly did.
I would recommend it for a good date night. Your partner and you will be inspired either to have a good long conversation about men and women or . . . . well, something else ;). Have fun! Gerry is wonderfully talented and after seeing him in PS I Love you ,I have seen every movie he has made - he is great and we want more of him. They made a great team and the chemistry was certainly apparent thru-out. It was entertaining and gave us some laughs in this desperate time we are living in. We all need a few laughs!Go see it - it's better than most of the crap that Hollywood makes! Also, I am weary of the so-called critics that rate the movies - where are they coming from? Can't they just relax and enjoy a fun movie?
(Personally, I pay no attention to any of their reviews- they are most always off base!) So leave it alone and we will make up our minds without their nasty comments! Was this review helpful? And I hate to agree with critics, but there were parts of this movie that were cute, but for some reason they felt the need to put in so many unnecessarily crude lines. They did not add to the movie, but really destroyed the flow. I would not recommend this movie to anyone... even on DVD. Was this review helpful? The audience [ on a Monday night, in an almost full theater] truly enjoyed themselves. Maybe the critics need to loosen up.

But it is way up (or down depending on how you look at it) as one of the most offensive movies I've ever seen. It was as if each seen was meant to shock you more. Real people do not talk like this. Heigl and G. Butler. Which made it even worse. She needs to go back to where ever she came from and he needs to return to action movies. Romance isn't his forte. Was this review helpful?
