The story line was intersting, the characters were really well developed and you really care about them. The acting was excellent, and we found ourselves really pulled in throughout the entire movie.
Contrary to some of the reviews I read, this movie was easy to follow. I don't understand what the problem was. I had never read the book, yet it was completely clear what was going on. I don't get why anyone would have had a problem. Also, there was nothing strange or wrong about the traveller visiting the younger version of his love interest. The critiques of this movie made no sense to me.
This is a really fine movie, and I'd recommend that anyone who enjoys scifi, time travel or romance view this. Was this review helpful? Part of the problem was the cinematography that left you feeling like you were watching a blurry home movie. Editing was poor and it left you wondering why these people ever cared for each other. More time was spent on them being upset with each other than any affection, except for long deep shots into Clare's eyes to show her passion or something baser. Was this review helpful? There were only two other people in the whole theater and my friend and I only stayed because we entertained ourselves by making fun of it . There was no chemistry between the two main characters, the lead character's acting was bad and the thought of a grown man sitting on a blanket in a field in the middle of nowhere having a picnic with a little girl was a little offsetting. Not to mention every time he would "travel back" he would become invisible and his clothes would drop to the ground and he would reappear somewhere else naked. And you take their combos and mate it with Pleasantville. Then you take that concoction and shake it up with a little bit of Frequency, Donnie Darko, and Deja Vu and pour it over some The Family Man spiced with Primer and Slaughterhouse Five. And while that's all setting, you toss together some Me, Myself, and I with Idiocracy and pour it over. Throw in a little It's A Wonderful Life to give it some romance and then finally you sprinkle just a tiny tiny dash of the Terminator over it and you get this movie.
Confusing yes... but then again so were most of the people talking to one another after watching this. The movie is rather slow and you could almost predict what was going to happen and question why certains things did or did not occur in the movie. However is your girlfriend is into both chickflicks and sci-fi movies, you prry should take her to see this movie. Was this review helpful? Almost all of the important scenes and many of the best characters of the book where nowhere to be found. Where 's Kimy, Brash Gomez, the cage and poor Ingrid?
Did the screen writer even read the book? I could go on but the movie is in theaters and they are not going to redo it, to bad it could have been a cool movie. The acting cannot be faulted, they were all very good considering the screen play they were working from. Was this review helpful? I was curious how they would handle the difficult time travel scenes. The move was done very well, but you should read the book, or at least in part and then the scenes and what is happening flow better. The group that casted the movie did a great job of getting the right actors in the various roles. Contrary to the critic's opinion, Bana and McAdams flow together and create their roles beautifully. The book is not an easy one to make into a coherent movie, but the whole is greater than the parts and it works. If you want to add another 40 to 60 minutes to develop character and other things then you have a long film that loses its edge. It is one that I will see again! Was this review helpful? I can handle the sci-fi aspect of it which stretches the imagination but the connection between the main character's is never realized. I didn't give the movie another thought after I left the theater other than wishing it gave a little more substance.
Movie romance is what we all want and usually can't attain. It's really a shame this fell short. Was this review helpful? God is she gorgeous. Plus she can act. Bana shows again that he isn't much of an actor. Girls go see it cuz this is what you like.
