No monsters, just someone banging at your door 4am in the middle of nowhere. Liv tyler was brilliant. It is the most stupidest ending ever, you don't know if she survives or dies or if they catch the strangers or not. It doesn't make sence at all. So save some money and don't watch this movie. THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE BUT IT COMES FROM A TRUE STORY. AT LEAST YOU COULD HAVE THE STORY OF THEM BEING FOUND IN THE SPECIAL FEATURES OR SOMETHING.THEY HAD TO HAVE BEEN CAUGHT BACAUSE EVERYBODY IN THE MOVIE HAD SEEN THEIR FACE AND TRUCK EXCEPT THE ONE DEAD GUY. this movie. The simplistic approach should be appreciated over gore and action.
Not that there isn't plenty of action, but the film starts slowly on purpose to
develop it's characters and familiarize you with their surroundings,(house, yard, etc.)
which are as big a character as the actors. Then the action really pics up steam.This is DEFINATELY a movie that demands your full attention, or subtle (and not so) items will be lost on the viewer. I watched alone, and with others, and did have to explain somethings.......so pay attention.Great to see a different approach to movie making, not the typical horror/scary movie................And THAT's what makes this flic better than anything in it's genre over the last 10 years...at least. One of the best scarest movies I have seen for awhile. Scary because, yes, it does and can happen. Read the Variety review and the critic tells you the director was just paying homage to 70s slasher movies that always began with a creepy voice saying the movie you were about to see was "based on true events". Watching it in the dark with the volume up all alone... knowing this was based on true events. heck yeah this was a good terrifying movie .. not a scary movie... there is a difference.

OBVIOUSLY we can not possibly know what really went on that night, but the fact remains that two people were killed, and the killer or killers were NEVER caught. This just took place in 2005! Keeping those facts in mind, I thought the movie was very good.
I dont understand the complaining about the relationship of the couple. The guy was still in love with her. Regardless of that, being attacked by Strangers would certainly bring two people who were obviously in love at some point in their relationship closer, and looking out for eachother. Once the undeniable truth of death hits them, to be sure they would have grieved for themselves as well as eachother! Come On People, quit reading to much into this movie. It wasnt suppose to be like Saw I, II, III, or IV! This one was actually REAL, Real PEOPLE DIED! That shocking truth should be enough to freak out anyone who sees this movie.
Good movie. I freaked out that someone or a group could be so cold and brutal as to kill for the sport of it! I did not sleep well for 2 nights after seeing it!!! Was this review helpful? She could not have been more unemotional and soft-spoken during what should have been a movie in which she should have been grieving the end of her relationship, then terrified out of her mind at the thought of being killed! The scene where she is being dragged down the hall looked like she was trying to model for the camera rather than escape with her life! And what's with the ending?
