If you want to watch a movie with real characters and about real life situations, this one is for you. No Hollywood BS or madeup storylines here. This film explores how simple and lonely life can be at it's core nature, but very complex in it's interactions with just a few everyday people. It reminds us that no matter how hard we try to escape from life, it surrounds us. Good news for people who like good movies.

The Station Agent is one of those movies that you expect to be pretty good considering the screening at Sundance went so well...but it went above and beyond those expectations. The characters couldn't have been written any better, nor portrayed any better. These actors are some of the finest around and I really look forward to seeing them in the future. I laughed aloud several times - such smart humor. Also, you'll find that these actors were able to convey such emotion and depth - not only with words but with their silences...that cannot be done so effectively by all. I really believe that you will love this movie as much as I did.

A great film from start to finish, "The Station Agent" avoided the trap of becoming predictable and boring. In the spots where this film could've become like so many others, it took unexpected turns, and helped me keep my faith that it would actually prove to be a movie worth every penny of the ticket price, and more - as it was.
Peter Dinklage is spectacular as Fin, a simple man who just happens to be a dwarf, and would just as soon be left alone as put upon by the needy characters around him. Watching Fin's transitions - from a virtual hermit, to one who suffers the needs of those around him, to one who opens up to those same people, gets pushed away, and finally gets welcomed back once the others are truly ready - truly ($@&ed me in to this film. It's a beautiful, funny, and utterly engrossing film. I didn't want it to end. I can't wait 'til it comes out on DVD so I can watch it whenever I need a boost!!

I read Ms. Benedickt's review and it was absolutely awful! She has no appreciation for art as is evinced in her statement that this gem had made for the movies scenes at the end. Nothing could've been more wrong than her elementary mistake: she thinks she is smarter than she is!

This movie creates both tension and rewards of friendship based upon human values which revelop over time and knowledge of each person's inner truth. Nothing is more needed in this crass age than explanatory data on what we were like before Madison Avenue techniques transformed us into consumers and whooshed the humanity out of us and the pride of and in the individual became sublimated by ignorance and group think. Teenages of today would have no understanding of this movie as it doesn't move fast enough to keep up with a culture of the new next thing.

I though love this movie and it reminded me of an adult friend i had passingly as a child who died. I waited for him to come home from work so that he would pat me on the head on his way to his apartment. I will never forget this ruddy man and the unconditional friendship he gave to me freely. This movie is a credit and the actors were all magnificent, yes even Joe the loudmouth with a lustful soul for life and a yearning to know someone well in spite of the dysfunctional culture that attempts to de-humanize him. So there 'professional reviewers,' eat that! :)

If you like quality fims and not just commercial retread then you will enjoy TSA. Very quirky and surprising. Bobby Canavalle (sp?) is one cutie and is a standout here. He should be promoted as an acadamy award nominee for supporting actor.

It's basically the story of unlikely but beautiful friendship.

People chuckled almost throughout the movie, it's that charming.

This is a fine movie. It is a funny and uplifting story about unlikely friends, and the power of friendship. It is a beautifully acted and masterfully told account of three lost souls who find comfort in each other.

Peter Dinklage (Fin) plays an understated and minimalist first violin, setting a deliberate tempo and inward-looking focus for the whole piece. He provides a Philip Glass like repetitive theme which second violinist Joe Oramas (Bobby) improvises against with energy and abandon, challenging the introversion of the world Fin has accepted as a "small person" with Clark Terry intensity. When Patricia Clarkson (Olivia) enters with her spacy cello the harmonies grow and expand, bouncing off of each other with a sweet innocence. Raven Goodwin, a new face, provides unexpected bass notes of reality as the three main characters weave their always interesting and understated melodies and harmonies. Such simple and yet complex portraits of lives intersecting and interacting. Fin's dwarfism provides a hauntingly strange yet familiar connection with the viewer. A really good show not to be missed.

... after having seen The Station Agent, I have done some research and will be looking to rent 13 Moons and Living in Oblivion next. I caught Peter Dinklage's interview on Jay Leno re: this movie and was interested enough after having seen that and read the summary of the movie in the paper to make a point to NOT miss the exclusive engagement. The theater was more packed than I'd ever seen before at a matinee. It was well worth the effort. The story told here was so quietly compelling that I am sending sequel-sequel-sequel vibes to the Team that put it together. My mother and I rode home writing all the many scenarios that might take place. We were decidedly hooked by the character of Fin; so handsome, sweet, vulnerable, complex and INTERESTING a character. And so really finely played by Peter Dinklage. It is so nice to see a movie that doesn't cheat it's audience with the usual garbage being churned out of Hollywood.

I was in this movie as the ";What About Blimps Girl.";I think the effort put forward by the director was wonderful.Tom talked to me right when I arrived at the location. When I went to the premear I met all the actors and I loved it. The movie has so many different emotions in it that you feel almost as if you were in the movie( i really cant say because i was in it) This movie is worth every penny you pay for the ticket! I really enjoyed it. You will to.
