Ive been enjoying it year after year after year. I have the 25th Anniversary tape set at home and watch it periodically. I have family in Austria and visited an area near Salzburg. The scenery there is still as breathtaking now as it was then. It sends chills up my spine just thinking about it. Julie Andrews Christopher Plummer are magnificant in this story of love and of survival on the brink of World War II. Julie Andrews singing is absolutely incredible and I cry when Christopher Plummer sings Edelweiss. I get inspired uplifted when the Reverend Mother sings Climb Every Mountain. This movie is uplifting entertaining - something you dont see much of these days unfortunately. This is something the whole family can sit down and watch together! The movie was just telecast this past weekend and I am finding myself thinking of the tunes and lyrics to a number of this films songs. Was this review helpful? Most people would think that a movie such as this wouldn't want to be seen by children, but I strongly disagree. I have loved this movie since I was 12, and whenever I babysit my two cousins, I turn on 'The Sound of Music' and we are just taken in by the beauty of the scenery of Austria, the wonderful voices of Julie Andrews, Peggy Wood, Bill Lee (sang for Christopher Plummer), and all the children. The acting is supurb, and has probably inspired many, many actors. If you have not seen this movie, you are crazy. You have to get out and watch it! It is complete and udder perfection. A great Family Film. When I was young I and sister used to sing the songs everyday. Julie Andrews plays a nun from an Austrian Convent who loves to sing. She soon finds herself working as a Governess for Strict Captain Von trap’s 7 children. She finds herself overwhelmed but soon grows to love them.
Watch it and Find out that you should but it.
Was this review helpful? Even though it is aimed more at adults, I only saw it because when I was in Year 8, the class I was in needed disciplining because of not being able to shut up when requested. So my form tutor and my history tutor hatched a plan, they decided that for every minute that we wouldn't be quiet for, they would make us watch ten miuntes of the film. At the end of summer term (July 19th) we had been bored to tears, being made to watch two and a half hours of the film. As we watched it, few people actually watched it, if you get my drift, because it was so boring, we found other things to occupy our mind while our tutors were loving watcghing the film. I vowed that I would never ever watch a film like this again for as long as i lived, and to this day, Saturday 8th May 2004, I have not broken that vow. That is the way it shall stay. A film aimed severely at adults. KIDS, DO NOT WATCH THIS UNLESS YOU LACK SLEEP, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN (YOU WILL BE BORED TO SLEEP) UPON VIEWING THIS DISASTER. The music also drags the music into the gutter because of the annoyingly large amount of it. Must be avoided by people under the age of 40. Was this review helpful? I enjoy the sound of music because of the plot, how a strange nun Maria come into the live of eight people and change them completely by showing them love. It warms my heart just thinking about it.The acting was very nice. scenes where well put together, the music, singing and dancing would take me into another place where there was nobody else. There is nothing I would take away from it r add to it. The sound of music is a love story where as Maria come to the house for the first time to meet this family with seven children a Navy Captin and no mother. she Maria was sent there to take care of the children because she was not doing a good jod of being a nun. The children felt as if the did not need any one to care for them so they tried to run her away by ding all sort of stuff to her. The father run the house as if he was on duty, now Maria being full of life change all of this by teaching the children how to sing and teaching the father how to love again. Was this review helpful? When I was younger, I would go to my Grandmother's house and beg her to let me watch it, (Along with the movie: ";Hans Christian Anderson";). I'd sit in front of the T.V. for hours on end rewidning it at certain scenes and signing along with ALL the songs. What do I like the most in this movie? The casting, the Music, the choreography, the acting, cinematography, Oh I LOVE all of it! It is a splendidly put together picture that I will watch again and again! Heck! I'll even show it to my kids when I have them! Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
