It is so rich, so compelling. The title character is so much like all of us it is frightening. Yet, I couldn't look away. What a treat. One of the reasons is that it stays with you a day later, not like so many films that you struggle to remember anything about. Not so with TSD. THe hospital scenes with the grphic make-up artistry depicting the extreme condition of the skin disease will be a little unnerving to most. This is necessary to set up the main character though. After that the story kicks in and is quite engrossing. The worlds of author's reality and his book world begin to get tangled. Robert is top notch as always and the gorgeous RRP is a great pick for her role. Mel G in an odd and diddicult role. Everyone is great. Stick out the first scenes and you should like this film.
