I dont know if the agency in the white house is real, and how it works but it certainly feels real. Great action scenes and it has the typical story line about how a character is framed and goes on the run. Pete played by Michael Douglas is also having an affair with the first lady, which complicates alot of things. Michael Douglas I think is perfect for this role as a man in a suit. Eva Longorias supporting role is great after her role in Desperate Housewives. Very tense and the bad guy is a very suprising person. Some parts were horrible, like when the character played by Kiefer Sutherland shoots Pete and when he does Pete goes into a horrible fast foward. Though it has great action scenes, it left me wondering in the middle of the film, if the president would survive through this whole film. Was this review helpful? In a novel one must give a far broader perspective as the details unfold, but on film you can only see what the camera allows you to see. This creates a forced perspective which allows the filmmaker to play with these story elements to create a fun narrative for the audience. This has been the case with great thrillers throughout Hollywoods history. They have kept audiences around the world biting their nails no matter how many times we are exposed to these traditional genre traits. Despite the rather formulaic structure of The Sentinel the film manages to accomplish its goal of offering a thrilling and fun way to spend two hours......

Hard to belive a 1st lady is that pretty, never had one that looked like this one. Could have left her out all together, story line could have been on another subject other then an afair with the 1st lady, but it was good. Was this review helpful? His dynamicism was unparallel, at first i thought he was a polish immigrant who owned a delicatessan store, but by the 4 hour mark, i was convinced he was actually Bummi Gear in disguise. so once 9 hours had gone by, Heifer morphed again into The Count of Chronte Misto. a major theme of the plot of this production seemed to be the incorporation of many other movies into the arena of a sun sentinel. which had the conotation of an up-and-coming newspaper. however, i had to cut out of the marathon flick so i could return to my computer. overall and in conclusion, this movie satisfied much in a mucho time period. unless you love hiefers, or female cows, i say go see the next star wars. It is not disappointing, but it is not exciting or memorable, either. Sort of like a small serving of plain vanilla ice cream. On the one hand, it has a trememdous cast, with Douglas, Sutherland, Bassinger and Longoria -- all capable actors. On the other hand, however, it fails to develop enough background on some of the characters. I think the film sacraficed character development in favor of shooting, fighting, chasing and other cheap action-film thrills. Bassinger is capable of much more than this film allowed of her, and that was a little disappointing. While the film did have some good dialogue, it really never led anywhere interesting. For example, more insight on the presidential marriage would have been interesting, and some additional background of the secret service people might have helped better explain their relationships. Overall, though, the film does entertain you, and it is a better value than some of the films out there now. Was this review helpful? Keifer Sutherland and Michael Douglas are great actors and make this movies suspensful and exciting. Isnt that why the show 24 is on the top of the list? We like seeing a foiled assassination, we like seeing agents on the run and breaking the rules in order to find the truth. I give this movie 5 stars and cant wait to buy it on DVD.
Professional critics now-a-days only seem to like love stories which is very surprising to me because THEY ARE ALL THE SAME! Now those movies are boring and should be put to sleep. There is an assination attempt on the pres and you have to figure out who is involved. Save your money and rent the DVD. Was this review helpful? When will Hollywood send us movies that have substance and dont plagiarize current affairs or televeision? Movies that are entertaining and memorable? Was this review helpful? Could have been a blockbuster with better casting. Ending was a let down, almost leaving you feeling like they left off the last scene or two. Was this review helpful? Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland and Kim Bassinger are very talented people. What the heck are they doing in this a B movie? I have seen better made for TV movies. Was this review helpful?
