I totally loved the movie. It is strange and weird, but thats only because it is not the standard Hollywood movie... There is basically no plot and it seems there is no point in watching it. However, it does bring out some good points throughout, just not in the usual form what it is to be a child-adult like man, how we tend to escape into our own made up world rather than face the reality, how sometimes we should just be more optimistic, how we should let ourselves go at some moments relax and feel like a child, because nothing in the world is serious enough to be truly depressed andto behave like an adult. And love is also another dominating theme of the movie, I think.
I loved this movie for its great actors (esp Bernal!), just the whole weirdness of the movie, the unexpectedness and good humor, and because it is so unlike the tiring, stupid hollywood movies were so used to. Gael Garcia is such a revelation always, a major talent in todays bullpen of stars. Was this review helpful? There wasnt really any kind of story line or anything, it was really just sort of this dudes dream world where things would look funny and you couldnt tell the difference between when he was dreaming and when the movie was actually portraying him outside of his dream world. I appreciate indie flicks, but this one was just plain weird. Was this review helpful? And Bernal continues to demonstrate an impressive range the character requires the normally laid-back actor to be a wild ball of energy, and hes more than up to the challenge. His performance is hilarious, heartfelt and more than a little creepy, which could also be said about the movie itself. Despite a pure whimsy presented with a childlike lack of guile.
