The movie was over all worth seeing, could have used more narrating to explain more details about what was going on. Did not like the end and it was a depressing feeling left with the viewer but maybe that was the intention... Also was surprised it did not play in most theaters thought it was good enough to draw people but guess they needed the room for Jacksons stupid movie. Mel

I Love SciFi, unfortunately not this one! I Like movies with an ending, this one doesn't have one! It was long, dismal, and depressing. Don't waste your money!

Viggo has the talent to pull you into the movie. He's able to bring the movie to life, and this movie is no different. This is not a very fast-paced movie but it's captivating because you witness the struggle of their journey. It makes you think of what it'd really be like if a world disaster happened and the lengths you'd go through to protect someone you really love. I did not like the ending very much, but I expected it to end like that ever since the very beginning. I would've given it five stars if it would've shown more detail into what disaster happened, but it didn't take away from the magnificence of the movie. I would definitely recommend watching the movie.

and very boring; this is a one act play. Nothing happens except for repeating the same dark, dreary scenes and paper thin plot over and over again. It is brutally boring.

This is one of those movies that is best to have read the book. Many might complain there is no plot but there is. It's about survival and keeping that fire within you lit up! I would call this more of a drama than sci-fi

The Road is based on Cormac McCarthy's book of the same title. The book is hauntingly brutal and beautiful. It is not a typical end of the world horror story; it is about a man and his young son. It deals with issues of parental responsibility and love, the relationship between a parent and a child. If you can see it as a psychological drama, set in a horrific landscape, you might understand and appreciate it better. I hope the director and the actors did the book justice. Given the fact that Viggo Mortensen plays the father, I have very high hopes !

I saw this movie in July 2009 as a preview..I dragged a friend along..I have not stopped apologizing to her..I love sci-fi movies but this one misses the mark..the movie opens after the event but there is no context for what or where the event happened, where is/was everyone, there is no character development..you eventually figure out that something awful happened and this man and boy are on a journey to find civilization but you had to figure that out for yourself and it took a big chunk of the movie b/c there was no foundation for the opening..there was no reaction from the audience at the end, everyone left the movie in silence, in shock. I thought this movie will never see the light of day..I'm in shock its being released.
