There were some really great lines in this film. It actually seemed like a serious role for Johnny Knoxville. The casting was great. You really liked the characters and the people that played them. Johnny Knoxville is very funny in this movie! The other charecters are funny too. Knoxville is a smash-slam. His goal is hilarious! Set back in Pulp Fiction and the Grand Theft Auto video game and put them in a comedy movie! Also, Knoxville scores critic reviews that are outrageous and make you want to see The Ringer. Dont forget that Knoxville has a very funny voice when he acts Special. Was this review helpful? I usually laugh pretty easily, but this movie could not do it. I would not suggest this movie at all. I would have preferred to watch Roseanne reruns. Was this review helpful? There are laughs and romance and a cute ending. Not great but still pretty darn good. Was this review helpful? I thought that even though the people were retarded they had a great job with the lines. I truley fell out of my seat at one point in the movie. The jokes where great and then there where the parts where you felt bad for them. But either way you got a laugh out of it. You smile, you laugh, and you fall out of your chair. This was a film where you could sit back, relax and have a good laugh. Isnt that what movies are about? Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 5 users found this helpful Posted: 1/15/2006A review of The Ringer by PrincessJessica333 there were 2 reasons i went to see this opening night. johnny knoxville and the farrelly brothers. i was really hoping it wouldnt just be an hour and a half of laughing at mentally retarded people. im so so so glad it wasnt. i gotta say first off that i love mr knoxville, and this may be the first break from jackass that has been what id consider successful. sorry, not a dukes fan. many people wouldnt be shocked to hear that knoxville did a good job playing a retarded person. the movie has enough UNpolitically correct jokes that it is funny!! but what i found so endearing was the fact that the actors that ARE mentally challenged had some of the best lines in the movie! they werent exploited or made fun of, they were actual characters with feelings and motivations. so if youre looking for a good laugh and a movie you actually walk out of with a smile on your face, this is a good one. oh and kudos the the actor, i cant think of his name, who was also in galaxy quest and is NOT mentally retarded, he was hilarious!!!! glen was the best part of the movie! It was a funny movie. Sometimes I didnt know whether to laugh or not, with the disabled athletes involved in the pranks and jokes. Once I got over that, half way through, I was good to go. It had me crackin up! Was this review helpful? I thought that it would make fun of people with mental disabilities, and therefore, did not want to be a part of that. But my friends wanted me to go see it, and I am glad that I did. It is funny, but it doesnt MAKE FUN of anyone. It actually did the opposite I thought that it portrayed how smart people are that have these disabilities. It really showed their true intelligence and how genuine of a caring heart they have. It was sweet, and I thoroughly enjoyed the film! Was this review helpful? I only went to see it as a precaition, because my daughters special ed class was going to see it this week. I didnt want her feelings to be hurt by insensitive treatment of mentally challenged people like herself.
I was very impressed with the way that it handeled the subject of people with mental disabilities.
The movie has a lot of ridiculous humor as one would expect from a film starring Johnny Knoxville, bit this is tempered by the touching , and humerous dipiction of the Special Olympians.
I would buy this movie. I highly reccomend it to anyone!
Dont judge it until you see it for yourself. Was this review helpful?
