Lane and Broderick looked more like they wer doing a Jerry Lewis imitation than acting, something that may have come across ok on Broadway, but in the movies the acting style has to be toned down.

It is one of the greatest musical movies of all time. I loved it so much, I saw it three times now. It was absolutely hilarous. What really surprised me is how well Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman did. I am buying the DVD on the day it comes out. If you dont like this movie, dont ever go to the theater ever. You just obviously dont like movies if you dont like this one. Was this review helpful? Having heard so much about the play from my brother-in-law who saw it on Broadway was really looking forward to the movie.
While watching the 1st 20 minutes I felt HUH this is one of the greatest musicals ever. A bigger surprise came to me 5 minutes later when my wife, who majored in drama, turned to me and asked me if I wanted to leave. The words YES havent come out of my mouth so fast.

Sign In 4 out of 5 users found this helpful Absouletlly awesomePosted: 1/11/2006A review of The Producers by BlakePA1 this movie was absolutely hilarious and i had to use the bathroom twice because i almost wet myself from laughing. all the other people that didnt like it and say that they hated it are probably jewish, not saying anything bad about you because i love you, im just saying that this movie may have offended alot of you. but i absolutely reccommend that you see it, will ferrel is amazing. it is incredibly dramatic and its funny because all of the charachters are the definition of exetreme ranging from homo sexuals, neo-!@s, histericals, and insane people, and dont forget about the beautiflu ulla!!

It was the most entertaining 2 hours in our recent memory. What a perfectly cast group. Each have such a distinct and memorable persona. And funny?? Im still laughing at some of the masterful writing.
All of the above, without a single profanity or nude scene!

And the peolple around us did also, the place was packed, we sat near people we never met before and everyone of them joined in the laughter. The movie gave us all so much enjoyment that the theater seemed so warm and friendly. I have never been to a movie that I felt like laughing out loud and wasnt inhibited by the people around us. You just couldnt resist and so many times the laughter spread throughout the entire theater. I would recomend this to anyone who needs a good laugh and take a few freinds so you can enjoy together. This is the ONLY movie I have ever walked out on. Matthew Broderick and Uma Thurman CANNOT sing or perform any more than the average Joe on the street. They were horrible, especially Broderick...who should consider his career over now that he is beyond the teenager movies he used to do well at. The only saving grace to this terribly acted and performed fiasco was Lane and Ferrell, who brought the only (and rare) laughs to the screen. I cannot understand how anyone could give this terrible interpretation of Mel Brooks The Producers even a passing grade, much less a good one. Do not think of spending money on a ticket unless you enjoy musicals, tediously performed by people who cannot sing, dance, or project one bit of charisma onto the big screen. My recommendation is dont bother to even rent on DVD, much less try to sit through it at a theater. Was this review helpful? Still, fasten your setbelts and get ready to rumble because this film is a riot!!! Hollywoodland does not get any better or funnier than this.
The scene in the accountants firm where the filing cabinets rolled out to form a stage for the dancing accountants was nothing short of inspired. Sure, there were some scenes that did not flow along as well as others, but lets just leave that all up to you. Different people take different things away after seeing this film. Brooks, you are still King! So, Kong, move over - the Schick-Meister is still in the house. If you have a heart condition this film maybe dangerous for you.
