I saw this one on a class trip last year, and I was fortunate to have seen it before taking my family. Fortunate in that the duplex has The Incredibles on the other screen, so I took them to that instead. What a difference! The Incredibles is a truly outstanding family classic. This was barely tolerable. First, the animation is really creepy! Think Resident Evil creepy, but without the blood. The animation is all the worse for the fact that they obviously didnt intend a creepy effect. The dialogue is George Lucas wooden. The characters, while appearing three dimensional, are very two dimemsional, even for a cartoon. While Im at it, Tom Hanks, maybe you shouldnt play EVERY BLOODY ADULT CHARACTER? I have been lucky enough to have seen Patrick Stewart perform a Christmas Carol on Broadway, and he has the talent to pull off playing all the characters in a performance. Tom Hanks, youre good, but youre no Patrick Stewart! Dont bother renting this one. With the low purchase price, chances are you know someone who will own it by December 26th, and you can borrow it.

OMG This movie is sooooo awesome. I loved it and recommend it 4 anyone. It may seem like a kids movie but believe me anyone would love it. Tom Hanks does an amazing job of voicing the characters. It is hard to believe that some of the characters arent real in some scenes because thats how they look. So overall it is an awesome movie. Go see it.

I love the Polar Express, I am a big softie I guess but I get goosebumps right from the start!! I saw it first in 3D Imax and just recently got the DVD and shared it with my 4 yr old son. Yes there are some parts that could be a bit scary for younger children but I simply exercised my parenting skills and told my son that this was an adventure and that no one ever gets hurt in an adventure and to enjoy the ride. This movie will be a holiday favorite for many years to come!

This movie was awesome. The animation was amazing. Tom Hanks actually looked like him. My favorite part of the movie is when the kids go in search of their christmas presents. It kept me on the edge of my seat when the train was on the ice. I loved this movie and cant wait to get it on dvd. I award this movie with 5 stars.

We went to this movie with my three children ages 7,5,3. They really enjoyed this movie and we do not go to very many movies because of the scary content. Yes, they could have left out some of the scary parts I agree but I think that the movie was well worth the money and the time. My kids loved it and I did too! I think that it brings back the spirit of believing in Santa like what we remember as kids. See the movie and talk about it with your kids-- you will be able to teach many good life lessons from the movie.

Posted: 1/10/2005A review of The Polar Express by FloodedAura
So call me a Scrooge but this movie was actually disturbing to me. Dont get me wrong, I loved the book, and my children are thoroughly enthralled when we read ( look at) it. Perhaps the problem is the fact that I saw the movie in 3D. My issue is with the technology, I find the melding of CG and live action to have created a hybrid image that is neither animation nor live action. Check out the faces of the waiters in the dance sequence, thay appear emotionless, almost dead. In particular the face of the African American girl is completely out of proportion, her mouth is especially strange looking. The eyes of all of the characters have a vacant "lifeless"appearence to them. I know that this movie was a technical tour de force but I think the story would have been better served with a less "real" look to it. I also hope that this movie does not replace the joy families should get from sharing the joy of appreciating the original visual medium, the book.

I read this book when I was a little kid. It was excellent. Now they've made it into a movie, and it was excellent as well. The animation of the characters was top-notch. It's amazing how many voice Tom Hanks made in this movie. If I hadn't known it was animated, I might've thought that it was live action. This is a good movie for all ages to see, young and old alike. So grab some popcorn and watch this fabulous movie!

Anything that makes my 3 year old THIS happy, has my vote. Whether is was going to see the movie, 'rerunning' the trailers from the Internet 1,000 or having Santa bring the Polar Express Electric Train Set, this kid is smiling for hours afterwards. Great message, one that the family can go and see. How many of those movies do we have left now a days?
