Truly a wonderful achievement in film. Katharine Hepburn as the character Tracy Lord, no one absolutely no one could have portrayed that role better. I liked James Stewart in this movie he was really good and so was Cary Grant as usual. I enjoyed most if not all aspects of the movie and would watch it over and over again.

I have seen more Katharine Hepburn films than I care to count, and this one has to rate as one of my absolute favourites. The dialogue is snappy and sharp, and delivered with wonderful expression and timing. The casting is superb. No one but Kate could play Tracy Lord; after all, Philip Barry wrote the part for her. Cary Grant is irresistibly handsome and charming as Dexter, and you have to love Jimmy Stewart as Mike Connor. The secondary roles were also well cast, and I must make special mention of Virgina Weidler, who played the part of Tracy's annoying but loveable kid sister. I was fortunate enough to see this film several years ago on the big screen, at a repertory cinema in my hometown. Regrettably, the place closed a few years ago. What I remember most of all about seeing the film there was the applause at the end. The audience actually clapped; how often do you see that happen at a movie? It just seemed to be the right thing to do, and is probably a better review of the film than mere words can accomplish. If you are fortunate enough to have an opportunity to see this film on the big screen, DO IT! If not, it is well worth purchasing on video, as it can hold up to repeated viewings, but get the black and white version, please! This film needs no embellishment!

One of the best movies ever made. The chemistry between Hepburn & Grant is great, again. Throw in the lovable Stewart and get carried away with the life and times going on between the 3-some and the rest of the fantanstic supporting cast. They make you feel like this is a real family alowing you to indulge in the perverse act of watching and waiting to see who ends up with whom. Why can't they make movies like this now?!
