Words can not describe how much I loathe this movie. I mean, I am seriously ashamed to be giving this movie even one star. The reason I despise this movie is because it was made to where it could disturb you, and beleive me, that is some extreme false advertising. I was slouched over in my chair, waiting for something scary or spooky to happen, and does it? No, instead, Robin Williams has to go through a ton of stupid things to find out that Rory Culkin does not exsist in this movie. This movie is just the same as The Forgotten, it is just that stupid. Save your rental fee and rent American Pie instead. As soon as I get the chance, I will take the movie back to Movie Gallery and tell them that I hated it. Hopefully, that will get a free rental, and an even better movie. Maybe The Wicker Man would be better than this garbage. I seriously hate this movie, because Robin Williams was extremely better in One Hour Photo. Oh well, I am going to Movie Gallery to tell them to do the rest of this town a favor and burn the set of DVDs that they have of this movie. Peace easy.

...to describe how bad this really is. It is repulsive, vile, corrupt, and that just covers the first 15 minutes. the remainder is disturbing, dull, preposterous, ludicrous and back to repulsive for the worst cop out ending I have ever seen. THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN! Lady In The Water is on par with Citizen Kane compared to this trash heap.

I cant imagine why so many good books turn into such dreadful movies. Not in ever case mind you!(Remember ROOTS!) But THIS gotdamnit is NO ROOTS. I first read the book of (The Night Listener) and was surprised by how much I liked the story,(such as it is.) But on screen! I dont know, something is just..... missing. Too many changes made. If you didnt read the book, you dont have a clue as to what Im talking about! Robin Williams is O.K in the title role of a radio talk show host, and the trials of his out of sync state of being. This film is not as bad as most reviewers here made it out to be! Or could it have be the shot of gin I have before seeing it?! The book caused a mini stir upon it release, and was a New York Times best seller. I

The last few movies I have seen Robin Williams in have had me scatching my head and wondering why..? He was so talented in so many other roles that I wish he would read the scripts he is sent instead of taping them on the wall and playing PIN-THE-TAIL-ON-THE-NEXT-MOVIE-I-SHOULD -BE-IN.

Love Robin Williams. Hated this movie. We left after 20 mins. It was like being at the dentist office and there was no gas.... painful... only good thing the theater gave us our money back.......

I feel I am stretching it to give this movie one star. I sat through it but it was not easy. Many people especially men left the movie. The double plot never develops any thing worth following. The end was no real surprise. I wouldnt bother not even on video and I am a Robin Williams fan.

Heck was this about? Robin Williams has proved in the past that he can be incredible in any role. But this was a disaster. Definitely not worth the money or the time to drive to the theater. This movie did not even have a good plot. Crazy Donna pretending to be blind (then looking at Danny directly, not once, but twice!) come on. We should have went to see Superman.

My date and I ended up seeing this movie only because Miami Vice was sold out and the only thing worse than seeing the movie, was that I agreed to pay and waste my money on the worst movie I ve seen in 2006 thus far. The beginning was slow, yet kind of interesting as Robin Williams character Danny went to find the young boy and Psycho Donna. Once he gets the answer hes looking for (for those who havent seen it I wont give it away) the movie goes downhill after that. It was lousy and I wish I had waited to see the later showing of Miami Vice or even Barnyard or John Tucker Must Die! I should be like the boys in the t.v show South Park and try to get my money back from the directors who make lousy movies such as this. I hope this is helpful but please dont waste your money, time or anyone elses money or time on this movie...wait til it comes on cable, if you can dont even watch it then.

Robin Williams should stick to what made him famous - COMDEY. The Night Listener fell so flat that I could hear the guy behind me snoring, my son next to me groaning saying This is so dumb. Mom can we go now? That was only 30 minutes into the film. The Night Listener takes a spin on a worn out plot and makes it even duller than the first movie to use the plot. The big climax is Williams character finding the velveteen rabbit in the hotel room where the crazy Donna was just leaving. WHOOOPIE. Why does Williams continue to pursue roles where he is a gay man? He plays these characters out so badly it hurts. Put some real character acting behind it if you are going to play the role. The ex-boyfriend in the movie is so much younger than Williams - it does make you wonder what the Hell? Dont waste your money on the box office this movie makes for a great boring night alone at home. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This film defies genre and the engine that propels it is unrelenting suspence. Robin Williams puts in a stellar performance as a compassionate man who is not sure if he has been fooled by a character who maybe playing on his sympathy to get attention. The atttention seeker prays on Williams who is vunerable from a recent breakup of a significant other that he nursed through AIDS This is a terrific device as the audience is !@ed in for a resolution. Terrrific device aside, this picture could have fallen flat on its lens without the terrific interplay between Toni Collette and Robin Williams. I normallly comment on the sets but I confess I was to wrapped up in the story to notice.
