It was about on par for your fairly good made for TV sci fi channel movie. the plot was predictable to silly, the action sequences were ok but nothing special, and the background was just plain nonsense. Still I wouldn't mind sitting down on a weekend on which I had nothing to do and watching it on TV. however its definately not worth 11 bucks at a movie theater. wait a few years till it comes out on TV, you'll be a lot happier. I found a couple of holes in the film, no Rachel (didnt like the replacement either), and I thought there was some unneccessary sexual reference in this film that had not been used in the previous films. this made me uncomfortable watching with my 5-yr-old since I was not expecting it AT ALL!
the movie had SOME good action, but overall, I would have rather saved my money and watched it on cable. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful ...okPosted: 8/25/2008A review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor by flickchick0001 The third installment of the mummy was ok..it didn't have a sense of awe like the others..the first two still had audiences intrigued even though it was the same mummy...i don't know if it was the whole new mummy (though i am not saying Jet Li was bad)..or the new Eve (Rachel weisz was definitely better)...or the lack of wit in the jokes..it wasn't the same...i just found myself sitting back and taking it all in and not being moved like the others..mind you the graphics were great and the yeti were awesome..awesome graphics. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful ehh..Not BadPosted: 8/16/2008A review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor by Oak_Tree2 the movie wasnt terrible. i'll start off by saying that. in fact, the story was pretty sound. actually i enjoyed it, they played up a huge chinese fantasy element, which is always pretty interesting.
the movie did nuke the fridge though. the scene with the yetis, where the protangonists call upon the abominable snowmen for their help fighting off the enchanted emporerer, was WEAK. it ruinded the rest of the movie for me.
the only other aspect of the movie that i didn't like were the accents. the chinese characters did have chinese accents--and thogh i am not at all prejuidice--it took away from the smoothness of the dialogue.
on the whole it was an entertaining movie. don't expect it to win any oscars, however. Was this review helpful? Rachel Weisz is sorely missed as Evy but I can understand why she passed on the role after winning an Academy Award for real acting. She no longer needs this kind of movie for her career. The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor lacked a lot of good actions and script but it was entertaining and I enjoyed it. I wished that they altered it a bit and made the son maybe a few years younger than the way he looks, it just didn't seem right to see Brendan looking the way he did in the movie with a son that almost look as if he's just 10 yrs younger than Brendan. The replacement of Evie (Rachel Weisz) is somewhat okay, but just not the same without her. It's like losing a mother in real life and was replaced by a step mother - not the same. She did try her best and acted her best but since there has been 3 Mummy movies with Rachel, it was a tough act to follow.
Okay, down to Jet Li, there was not enough action on this guy, he deserved more than what the movie script allowed him to do. I mean come on, it's JET LI.
Anyways, it was okay and entertaining could have done better. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful  it was goodPosted: 8/13/2008A review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor by yuuki__kuran I think it was worth it BUT they used a different actress for Evy and wasn't as good as the actress that played her in the first to movies and why would they decide to change in the third movie it would be just as bad if they changed the actor for rick but they didn't and in my open the actress ruined Evy's personality, they should have used the same actress as they did in the first and the second one and it would have made it a perfect movie but they didn't and in my opinion that was a big mess up. The new one can't act her way out of a paper bag, and isn't nearly as good looking as the original. Also, the son was very disappointing-- Maybe it was just a bad script, although it had lots of action.

The first and second Mummy Movies are up there with my favorite movies...I LOVE The Mummy, but I, along with about a handful of other people in the movie theather, wanted to leave after the first scene. The one thing that really killed it for me was that Evie wasn't the same actress, she is one of the main characters, so replacing her with someone else, was a disappointment. Also, the whole Asian mummy thing, wasn't really cutting it for me. When you think mummy you think of Egypt not...Asia. They seemed to make the movie more about the son as well, which I don't think I liked as much, plus the action and suprise was weak. I wanted to like this movie so much but in all honesty, it wasn't all that good. I would wait until it came out on DVD...honestly. Was this review helpful? I mostly agree with Iamamoviefanatic. Chemistry was bad and didn't ever know if son should have been written in.
I disagree that one review said "good thing Rachel passed". She would have made this alot more fun!
