Enemy aside, Roger Moore has outdone himself as 007.

This is a great Bond film. This movie has a great story and a great villian (The man with the golden gun - Scaramanga played by Christopher Lee). Watching the beginning was great and caught my attention which never waned throughout the movie. Some of the parts I enjoyed in the movie was the half sunken ship off the Hong Kong harbor, which was used by the British secret service as a contact area. The car flip stunt in movie was great, Scaramanga's flying car was surprising, and the duel between Bond and Scaramanga was exciting and will have you rooting for Bond at the end. I didn't enjoy much of Brit Eklands performance as agent Goodnight. You get tired of some of these Bond women who play ditsy and jealous and who just want to get into Bond's pants (I wonder how she became an agent). However Maud Adams performance was spectacular and short. How Scaramanga made that shot killing her in the boxing arena without her falling over is unbelievable but enjoying. Bringing back the sheriff from Live and let die was questionable. I wondered what the thinking was behind that. I thought why a shallow minded red neck sheriff from the heart of the south would travel to Hong Kong. However the sheriff scene was enjoyable and funny.
I really love this Bond film and I have it as part of my personal collection. If you want to see a great Bond flick this is one of them. Oh I forgot to mention Herve Villechaize who plays Scaramanga's little butler was also great in the film.
In this corner, you have the cool, collected super secret agent James Bond - a sure shot with a license to kill. In the other corner, Scaramanga, the marksman assassin who charges $1miliion dollars per shot, and his assissinations only take one shot. He has his custom made gun aimed at 007, and he won't shoot to maim! Some of the action is slow at times, but the tension on Bond's face will keep the suspense running all the way to the gripping contest at the end.

Not much of a plot here, basically the whole film is leading up to a dual between Bond and Christopher Lee, who plays Scaramanga, the 3-nippled assassin, easily in the top 5 as far as Bond villains go. Nicnac still stands out as a pesky sidekick, the girl was cute too. The film boasts one of the most amazing stunts I have ever seen in a Bond film, which must have been a first back in the 70's, involving a car crossing a canal, NOT via a bridge. You have to see to believe. The classic duel at the end is excellent, one of the better confrontations in the Bond series.

The villain Scaramanga is the only good thing about the film. The rest of this is tired and uninspired. Boring...

While not the best Bond film objectively, it is my favorite. I think it's because the villian, Scaramanga, is so cool and because it has my favorite Bond girl, Goodnight. Good plot, great action, and two great main characters this is a good addition to the series. It does however have two corny inclusions...Scaramanga's flying car and sheriff J.W. Pepper. I think we could have done without them. All in all a must see. Good theme song too!
