Ok, so I was one of the three people in the world who wasn't impressed by the Lord of the Rings first film. Sorry-don't kill me. Just felt like it had been done before. The second film got a lot more interesting and I couldn't wait to see the third one. So here I am, catching up to the rest of you by seeing the Return of the King last night for the first time! They are great after all! Loved the walking trees and then the huge elephants in the next film. Gollum almost looked cute in a couple shots here, amazingly. Lots of twists of fate and complex characters to feast on. Wish I had read the book as a kid-I grew up in the wastelands however. No one recommended it to me?! Can you believe that!

::sarcastically:: Woooow that was a good movie, hey this movie is almost as ununderstandable as the Matrix well, anyway Good action movie. Nice acting. Reason for three star is too long some very boring scenes.

I have seen this movie hundreds of times because wonderful. Legolas and Aragorn are really hot and I have them as my wallpaper on my computer. Everyone looked as they were pictured in my mind. I liked the second movie the best because I just did. I really liked the soundtrack and I think Howard Shore did a good job. I have seen the movie with the commentary, all of the extras, and if you are not already convinced that I am a LOTR freak, I listen to the soundtrack at night and in the car AND to really make the cat fly out of the bucket, I know all the words to Aragorn's song in the third movie and know what they mean. I know several Tolkien Elvish words. So it's quite aparent that I love these movies. I especially like the part where Legolas kills that oliphant and when Eowyn kills the Witch King of that place thats really creepy.

As far as movies go, this is a good one. Better than all of those 'chick flicks' that are so popular nowadays. Scenery: awesome, acting: close to awesome, special effects: great, music: incredible. With that being said, I would like to add that it bears little in common with the book. They have the same characters, same general places, and many of the same events, but apparently Tolkein's original just wasn't good enough for the TV generation, so they had to add irrelevant love scenes, and nonexistant suspense scenes. Personally, when I was reading the book, I was filled with enough suspense, so I saw little point in adding to it. A good movie for those who don't care about minor/major details, but if you want the true characters and facts, read the book. May take you longer, but it sure is a lot better. The only thing I liked better in the movie than in the book was, like many others have pointed out, the Gollum/Smeagol debate.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings" was met with some unfortunate problems, mainly with the Hobbit characters pushed to supporting characters. But since this is what the makers's decision, this is what I'll go with. The second installment evolves from the storyline from the original and becomes a rousing and an amazing swashbuckling adventure. Unlike the empty emotion of the original, "The Two Towers" tells a compelling story of friendship, trust, and betrayal concerning Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam's discovery of a schizophrenic mutant hobbit, Gollum. Who's futile persuit of the one ring to rule them all. Conflicts also arise between Sam (Sean Astin) and the Gollum and the Gollum and his split-personality during their quest. Meanwhile, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Gandalf the White search for the Hobbits and defend the fortress of Helms Deep from Sauron's forces in a wonderful battle for the ages.

this movie is better than the first for one because it doesnt have as much walking but mostly because of the forty minute battle scene at helms deep in this they introduce more characters and it has more diversity. i love this movie. isaw it more than once in the theatre.
