In my humble opinion, 11 oscars wasn't nearly enough. I watch a LOT of movies, and i have never seen anything that even comes close to Return of the King. Mind-blowing is an understatement.

The critic who thinks the ending was the worst of all times is an absolute moron. I mean come on. It was a great movie, the action was awsome and the special effects rocked! You seriously need to get over yourself and get a new career. You obviously know nothing about good entertainment!

Ok let me say this right away, this was probabley the best movie I have ever seen period. No question about and almost no argueing it. However after seeing it the second time on DVD after getting the extended versions i find my self skipping through the Frodo parts. Partiall due to the lenght but i beleave its best the first time then the rest of the times it goes down to a 4 star. Man i cant tell you how muchi loved this movie buts its not one i cant watch again...i will find my self not interested fairly quickly.

I could name all of the scenes I loved, but that would take too long. I loved Billy Boyds portrayal of Pippin-- especially the way he expressed the Hobbits shame after Gandalfs scolding. In every one of his scenes, John Rhys-Davies was fantastic (That still only counts as one!) and Ian McKellan was, unsurprisingly, amazing.

The first two Lord of the Rings were excellent, five star material. The Return of the King was very good, just way WAY too long, particularly the ending. It seemed like it dragged on after they got rid of the ring (and Gollum). There was too much resolution at the end. Like we needed an upstate of every characters life, post-quest. Midway through the movie I was hoping that Frodo threw the ring in the lake of fire, but it was still on his neck when it went over the edge. I mean, can he stand up for more than 5 minutes without fainting or gettin knocked down? I hated him midway through the second film. The fight scenes with Gandalf, Aragorn and the gang were great, but not up to the standard of the fight scene in the rain of The Two Towers. All in all, I say watch The Return of the King, because I did enjoy it, but not to the point of the first two.

I ONLY HAVE ONE THING TO SAY, IF YOU DARE SAY THIS WAS IN ANY SENSE A BAD MOVIE...I WILL PERSONALLY PUT YOU OUT OF YOUR MISERY. OH, AND BELIEVE ME, I WILL HAVE AN ARMY OF DUNEDANE, DWARFS, ELVES,AND FANS FROM ALL AROUND MIDDLE EARTH AND THE REGULAL EARTH. WHEN A TRILLOGY MAKES OVER 3 BILLION DOLLERS IN JUST BOX OFFICE - AND WHEN THIS ONE ALONE MAKES OVER 1.6 BILLION IN JUST BOX OFFICE...WELL WHAT ELSE IS THERE? ANY QUESTIONS???

This movie literally made my jaw drop when I was watching it. The battles are so realistic (there is not much of Stormtrooper syndrome here) and so awesome that you could watch this film 100 times in a row and you wouldnt get tired of it. Peter Jackson did a flawless job of picking his cast. Nearly everybody fits their role perfectly. In short, this movie deserves all of those Academy Awards and more than a five star rating. Also, if you arent going to buy this movie, or if you think it is bad, you should be killed instantly.

Lord of the Rings-The Return of the King, is one of, if not the best movie ever made. Peter Jackson (director) really captured the way I am sure Tolkien (writer) wanted his book to be seen. The actors in this movie are amazing, Eli Wood(Frodo), Sean Austin(Sam), Viggo Mortensen(Aragorn),Liv Tyler(Arwen), just to name a few. Another BIG thing in this movie are special affects, which the didnt have a problem with. The Sp in this movie are wonderful, i dont think they could have made them any better even if they tried. Anyway if you are one of the few who have not seen this movie I highly incurage you to.

Posted: 11/13/2005A review of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by Webba7
Peter Jackson and his crew outdid themselves this time. A testament of great storytelling, with an eye for detail especially concerning landscape and characters described in the novels. An achievement of this calibre speaks of an indepth appreciation for the subtleties of such a masterpiece an attribute possessed only by few filmmakers mainly in the British commonwealth. I would also like to address a number of fans who continue to, erroniously, refer to the Lord of The Rings as a trilogy. It is not a trilogy, but a single story ( six books) told in three parts. Anyone who understands and appreciates Tolkiens work would understand that this misconception displeased him greatly and does not do justice to the effect he was trying to achieve. This he explained in a prelude contained in the Fellowship of the Ring. There are not many story tellers akin to his mastery of this genre that are now left. A trilogy refers to a story broken down into three parts, each with a separate but related storyline (retains main characters mythology) which has in and of itself its own conclusion. The Lord of the Rings however, does not comform to this description for the simple reason that each part does not give or carry with it a sense of closure at the end, but leads logically into the next part until conclusion in the Return of the King. Anyone who says LOTR is a trilogy disqualifies himself as a true fan of J.R.R. Tolkien.
