It was interesting and sweet and good to see a positive role model for women in Catherine Zeta...plus she looked HOT!!
I want to write more but its that type of movie that you have to see for yourself. It wasnt bad despite not reaching the popularity of the first, in my opinion anyways. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 4 users found this helpful Posted: 12/10/2005A review of The Legend of Zorro by ERgoalie I liked this movie a ton...it had a lot of action, suspense, but it definetly was not predictable. I will admit that it was a little longer than it should have been, but the first one was too. I give it 4 stars out of five. Was this review helpful? Yada, yada. Its historically inacurate and not as good as the first Zoro movie with this cast. It entertained me. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 11/22/2005A review of The Legend of Zorro by Anonymous The first movie did great and the electricity between Bandaras and Jones was palpatable. That continues on into the second movie. But then the plot turns everyone upside down and never really stands us back up again. Corney? Sure, a little. Campy? That too. Over acted? You bet. However the photography is great and the action is just about non stop and even though the special effects are overdone ( Is this Zorro or Spiderman?) you cant help but catch a thrill. Where the film goes wrong- too much Zeta Jones being Wonder Woman, Bandaras goes on an unnecessary binge, too many plot twists going on, and the movie is just way too long. Is it worth going to see? Considering the other choices, a definite yes. But dont be expecting a better movie than the first- this one doesnt manage it. Was this review helpful? But I cant believe that EVEN THEY thought this movie was any good. Understandably I havent seen them publicizing it, Id be embarrassed too! I waited for the almost comedic dream sequence opening to be over at some point in the movie and finally realized it wasnt some funny over-the-top introduction to the plot. Joke was on me. Not only was the entire movie incredibly over-acted and predictable and poorly written (Zorros wife, through squinty which is supposed to pass for emotion-filled eyes, kicks him out of the house, his response? Then I suppose I should take my luggage. Seriously? Someone WROTE that?) but, as it turns out, there is no plot. Dont believe me? Go see it. Then at then end, as the credits roll, ask yourself Will I ever get those two hours of my life back. Was this review helpful? It had a lot of action, drama, and laughs to it during the movie. Both Banderas Zeta-Jones are a great pair for this move twice as better as the first one. Was this review helpful? Antonio Banderes made Zorro more livelier. Catherine Zeta-Jones, as Elena de la Vega, brought laughter and action together. Their son, Joaquim, is a wild-tempered future Zorro. I also loved the history of Zorros exploits help bring California its freedom. The special effects really kept me at the edge of my seat!!
MAKE ANOTHER SEQUEL IN A COUPLE OF YEARS, SET IN CIVIL WAR ERA!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 11/14/2005A review of The Legend of Zorro by Anonymous Ive seen The mask of Zorro and this one, both are good and worth watching with the whole family. I love the action and the comedy. The son of Zorro is so cute and you just love to pinch his cheek. Katherine-Zeta Jones (what a pretty face!) A. Banderas were so good, mixed with the accent, its cute. Its worth your time on a Friday night after a long week. Highly recommend it! Was this review helpful? I was fourteen when the Mask of Zorro came blazing onto the big screen from that point on I was hooked.
Now I am an adult and while many audiences are hungry for violence and nudity I appreciate it when a wholesome movie can be made that is both entertaining and amusing. My daughter and I have been to see this movie four times already and we laugh each time we see it.
I would like to point out that while the characters Zorro and Elena have changed a bit, this is completely natural. They have matured and evolved just as you and I would. Elena has transformed from a head-strong independent girl into a slightly more cautious loving mother and wife. She, just as her mother Esparanza in the Mask of Zorro, is worried for the safety of her husband Zorro. Although it would be nice to imagine that this character should be supportive of her husbands decision to go chasing the bad guys and risking his life on a daily basis, it is not realistic. I believe Catherine Zeta-Jones accurately portrays Elena as a woman who is putting her foot down and still in the end risks her life by going undercover to protect her husband and son.
As for Antonio Banderas representation of Zorro, he really delivers. The stunts were amazing with realistic sword fighting and horseback riding scenes. And what a hunk! He really is the dark handsome heroic figure we have come to expect Zorro to be.
Along with other fantastic supporting characters is Joaquin, the son of Zorro. This kid is amazing and after delivering such a great performance I would not be surprised if we saw him appearing in several more movies in the future. His role was brilliantly written and his depiction of the character was superb.
This is definitely the worthy sequel all Zorro fans have been waiting for. This is a great film for the entire film that will have you on the edge of your seat and bursting with laughter. Enjoy the movie! Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
