To study the film makes sense for a person wanted to write, act, direct, photograph or in any way make a movie. The director, actors, photographer, and writers became a sole entity, a real unit, in the making of the movie. . . I wholeheartedly recommend THE LAST PICTURE SHOW to anyone wanting to see a great, real emotion -- a shining austerity similar in tone to what Ben Johnson says of his love affair with a married woman: ";Loving a woman like that is always the right thing to do,"; or something pretty close. That is, it was a mistake but the right kind of mistake, like North Texas itself screams at you when you love North Texas and want to hear it screaming through its vast silence the way nobody has heard it but you.
