The point behind it was great, it keeps you focus. Would see it again. Was this review helpful? Having served in the military and being sent to Saudi I thought the storyline was realistic. The last 30 minutes of the film delivered as promoted; I was on the edge of my seat. I'm waiting for this film to come out on DVD so I can add it to my collection... Was this review helpful? the last movie I saw with jamie fox (blank man) was horrible
and I was hoping he had become a better actor unfortunately
I was let down again he's still a bad actor. and the movie had a great
story line untill half way through the movie when the 4 fbi guys
go rambo and kill off several hundred people while dodging rpg's and
automatic fire from everywhere. they not only found guns that never run out of bullets and grenades appear from nowhere for thier use they manage
to avoide ever getting shot no one ever dies..according to this producer we could of
just sent like 3 fbi guys to bosnia and they would of handled all the problems
basically the movie was so unrealistic it became dumb to watch waste of money to see.. I should of watched good luck chuck with my girl... Was this review helpful? The shaking camera was not a problem, and it is used to give the viewer the feeling of being right there. I have balance problems and simulators or video games usually make me dizzy, this didn't, so the camera problem must be an individual thing. As for the movie, it was great. Total non-stop action. There was a lot of killing, but there have been many other movies which were ten times more graphic. Actually, the violence was necessary to show the point of the whole thing, which culminated in a very sad and tearful ending. A must see movie for those who don't understand why these types of conflicts will never stop. Really makes you think. Was this review helpful? If you are looking for bullets screaming through, forget it ! go watch transformers !
The plot of the movie was very simple - An attack on a US establishment which forces US to intervene and yet keep it within the framework of maintaining good relations.
The part that surprised me was the use of "Abu Hamza" name !! I thought they may atleast use any other Arabic name but NO !
Godo movie, very interesting, good pace, great ending ! Worth for a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon.
If you liked Syriana, then definitely go watch this ! Was this review helpful? It's not as jumpy as Bourne Ultimatium, yet I still had to close my eyes during some of the scenes to calm my stomach. Enought on that, the movie is worth seeing. Was this review helpful? It showed the good and bad guys on both sides. This movie also demonstrated how everyone is at the mercy of others, eg. how hatred was instilled in others, how you have to think outside the box, use favors in the press and internationally markets. How in a foreign country the ruling family has to appease their people and the foreign governments. It is a dangerous situation for America and foreign countries to straddle the fence. We left two-thirds into the movie since we did not expect to need Dramamine before sitting down! Having to look away so frequently to keep from getting nauseaus, due to the jerky camera work, detracted from our ability to concentrate on the plot. It sounds from the other reviews that we saw the best part anyway! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 10/4/2007A review of The Kingdom by 1andonlypsit this is for w8 and lola - the USA is not evil in its policies - i think we just act out of self-interest a little too much and of course then people get mad at us and label all of us evil unfairly when it's just a handful of policy makers that are doing the wrong but let's not be so hard on each other i hate our foreign policies too, but i'm not going anywhere cuz i think we live in one of the best countries on earth, in all of history - let's just not get too self-centered or else we risk loosing it all
and as for the movie, i haven't even seen it yet, but it looks awesome - and it's JUST A MOVIE - yeah it's obviously meant to be provocative and opinion generating but let's get a grip - i think we have enough anger and hate in the world already - let Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner do all the shooting lol Was this review helpful? Gives the viewer a picture of what went on in the early days of this war, not that it's still not going on today. However I’m not sure we're looking in the right places. The way that these extremists in a sense brain wash the young to follow in their foot steps was visualized in this movie showing some of the more corrupt beliefs of the bombers.
On a more positive note the relationships that emerged as the movie went along showed that there is good and bad everywhere. In order to learn the truth about a person you have to look deep and not just be blind sighted by your own prejudices and accusations. Was this review helpful? Now to get to the review, the movie was a great action flick that made you feel like you were in the action(can cause some motion sickness). I thought the movie was well done and accurate : ) Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 10/1/2007A review of The Kingdom by Anonymous It was a pretty good movie, and the acting was awesome. I loved Jason Bateman from Arrested development; he seems to play a smart ass in most of his movies.
However, I really hated the camera work. I understand that the idea was to make the movie seem very realistic, and it was, but after a while i just couldn’t keep up because the camera was just so unsteady. I mean there’s a point when you just got to look at something like a wall or the ground to get your equilibrium back. I thought I was going to puke. I wasn’t feeling to well before so it might’ve been that, but the camera moving around like a bobble head just made it worse. Other than that, it was a very good movie and if my boyfriend didn’t take me then I wasn’t going to see it at all. I guess because i knew that the movie was going to hit base on a lot of subjects that are a bit hard at this time, which made this movie more intense and real. This movie will probably get an award because it really got the best of your emotions. Well at least mine. I just hope that in future when other movies like this come out, with this type of style, that cinema photographers will see that realisms doesn’t have to be captured thought a crazy camera angles, and more through subject and emotional intensity and acting . Story is a little far fetched but what isn't when it come to Hollywood. lol
I realize you need a female in a movie to pander to the equal rights folks but in this situation it just doesn't work especially one wearing a tight t-shirt in the company of Saudi men.
I mean surely the director has read about the hard time female U.S. military personnel have in just going to the store without covering up and having to walk behind males in this male dominated society.
Would I see it again? No. Was this review helpful? Sign In | ||
