I can not recall the last time I left a movie theatre feeling like my $10 ticket and $12 concessions were worth the cost. However, The Island did that for me. It had incredible imagery and special effects, which helped to balance out the intense action sequences that kept you on edge. I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I did.

This movie was probably one of the best out this summer. I loved the fact that it had some background from such books such as '1984', 'Brave New World', and the movie Gattaca. With this history behind it and the Director's ability for action movies, this was a no brainer MUST SEE!! Not to mention the cast, Ewan and Scarlett once again give stellar performances. I, most of all, loved the set designs and music. This a great conversation starter about the ethics of human cloning. GO SEE IT.

I didnt know what to expect. I walked out of the last movie in disgust, but The Island definitely made up for it. It was longer than expected, but thoroughly entertaining. Its a little far-fetched at times, but hey, these are the movies, right. Johansson looks fabulous and McGreggor was a very likeable in his heroic role. Never a dull moment, and a very interesting concept thats well written and delivered by Michael Bay. A dark horse that will surely impress most. Truely enjoyed.

I cannot believe that the critics would give "the Island" a three star rating. The movie clearly had the special effects and story-line for at least a four-to five star rating. Critics need to go see this movie again because it was a clearly well done movie with fantastic acting by both Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Critics please go see this movie again because a three star rating?! no come on... at least give it a four star.

This movie was great. It had the sci-fi blow em up for the kids, and the love story for the woman. Also seemed to have some morals behind the scene that came through. Was worth seeing and hope to see it again soon.

Hello all you movie going people! First I just have to say: Ewan McGregor is hot. Second, I am a die hard sci-fi fan who loved this movie! It is like a combination of 'Logan's Run' (primary), 'The Sixth Day', and even a little of 'Total Recall'. The story was told on the screen with excellent graphics & perfect casting. People listen, if you have a choice of seeing 'War of the Worlds', 'Fantastic Four', and 'The Island' I have to say hands down 'The Island' is the best. Wow that is all I have to say. Gosh, when I hate the movie I can go on and on but for this movie I just have to say it rocks!!!! Ciao for now! d

The perspective from the clones point of view is the reason everyone I talked to about this movie flatly rejected it. The special effects were cool but the storyline @#$%ed. It could have been approached differently, we already have seen Soylent Green, Blade Runner etc. I would have added the political side of the story -cell stem research subject and mixed that with the clones but from the real human point of view. The clones are just that clones.

This movie was way over my 9 year old's head. The movie didn't spell out plainly how the inhabitants of the protected world got there, or the purpose of the whole movie. one IMPORTANT FACT: There is a scene where the 2 main characters escape and visit their outside world-friend's house, and the man says "Why do I have to be the bad guy who has to tell the kids that there is no Santa Clause"? I was shocked and was upset because I have 2 small children that are at the age where this could pose a problem for me, come December. They'll remember this. Overall, it was entertaining, and I liked the fresh idea on the plot, but came away with the feeling that it wouldn't be a blockbuster, or get any awards.

I enjoyed this movie. It's unfortunate that the marketing of it leaned towards defining it as a thriller. It was a Sci-Fi, through and through. And a surprisingly good one at that. Aside from the visual aspect of the movie (most of the special effects were pretty awsome although at times it scrolled by the screen so fast that it was borderline irritating), there was actually some surprisingly decent acting here. Steve Buscemi was naturally the shining star in this project, but considering his lengthy filmology that is to be expected. Scarlett put on a pretty good performance but I think Ewan held her up in a few scenes. That was a surprise to me. The storyline was a little predictable, but I'm beginning to think that all the good stories have already been told in one way or another. This was a B movie, albeit a "high" B.

Parts of this movie dragged a bit, but thanks to the action, things picked up after a half hour into the movie. What the movie should've done was it could've explored more into the cloning details. The acting was good and it was a typical Michael Bay movie when the action started (freeway chases, gunfire, explosions, etc.). I feel that either you go to the movies to see it or buy it on DVD, either way, it's worth it. Just don't expect an overall grade A or 5 star movie on this one.

Good job. A remake of two movies rolled into one in sense. 1 being of course and obvious Logans Run and 2. Coma both excellent movies. So what if the plot is obvious. Narrow minded people that don't want to be entertained and think they are the worlds greatest critics should stay home and leave the movies to us that enjoy the works of people who use modern technology to enhance old movies and recreate and better them 10 fold and make for a entertaining movie. Good job and keep up the good work. And to you die hard critics just stay home and be the hum drum pick apart a movie person that you are and be bored. Tthe rest of us will enjoy the movie for what it is. Sci-Fi and pretty good to. Have to give ya a 2 thumbs up for the thought behind the movie. old timer.

Anybody who is a sci-fi fan and saw the preview should have instantly made the connection to "Logan's Run" (so, to any critics out there who were surprised and upset: wake up and pay attention!). My family and several friends all got together last night and watched "Logan's Run" as a warm-up for "The Island", knowing full well what was in store for us the following day. We love the original and we all enjoyed the new version. In many respects, I like "The Island" even more! The chemistry between the two runners is GREAT! I was pulling for them from the moment of their initial flirt scene clear through to the end. The story was fairly predictable but the new image of the future was so enthralling that my attention was kept and I was entertained throughout. Forget about the "ho-hum" critics and go see this one if you are a sci-fi fan or enjoy watching above-the-Hollywood-average romantic character development. I'm buying this one and putting it right next to "Gattaca" in my DVD collection.

A brilliant concept ruined by poor acting and even worse dialog. Ewan McGregor should stick to Obi Wan and Scarlett Johansson should stick to being naked on film. The film is poorly written and starts off so slow that you're ready to give up on it 30 minutes into the experiment. The last half of the movie is rewarding, but it seemingly takes so long to get there that the wait is NOT worth the reward. Steve Buscemi is the only bright spot to focus on, and his character is the most interesting. I cannot reccommend this as a date movie, or even a break up movie... And by the way, when in the world is Ewan going to have that stupid mole removed from his forehead????

Well, when I first sat down and started watching it I thought I had made a huge mistake. Some of the scenes were "yucky" for lack of a better term. After that, I was hooked and any future "too much for my stomach" scenes were watched while peaking through my fingers....It had suspense and the chemistry between them both was obvious. Almost like a first couple of dates butterflies in your stomach chemistry. It is sci-fi and for those of you who do not like those kind of movies....try it. This one really rated great for me. I walked out with a rush. The little grandma's were overwhelmed but I really had no idea how it would end.
