The original wasn't that great a movie, but it did elicit occasional chuckles (Peter Falk, "Serpentine, serpentine.") This remake just made me want to up-chuckle. Was this review helpful? Douglas and Brooks were very funny. I thought it was written with funny and witty dialogue. Was this review helpful? Submarine sequence in Lake Michigan was stupid. No one at party pays any attention and yet when the wave makes it over the break water it catches everyone at the party by surprise. ?????Also if you had not seen the first in-laws you would not have a clear idea of what happened to all of the cash and securities. This was a very entertaining film. I laughed throughout the whole thing. Brooks's sense of humor never ceases to let me down. Brooks and Douglas were very complementary. While I didn’t know what to expect going in to the film, I was not at all disappointed. I would highly recommend this film to anyone looking for a good laugh. It is not to be taken seriously however.. No blah, blah, blah about the chemistry or the stupid story. It's just a funny movie.
