I really enjoyed this movie. Id never seen any advertising for it but saw it on Fandango while looking for something to go to. After reading the synopsis and finding it interesting I went on to other movies. In short, I went to the theatre to see something else but it had already started, (thank goodness) so I suggested The Illusionist as it had sparked my interest. This is a wonderful movie. I love the visuals, the constuming, and best of all, Edward Norton puts in a spectacular performance. I do agree that the ending explains too much, and takes a hard detour from the rest of the movie possibly spoiling part of the charm, but as a whole the movie is worth seeing on the big screen. In a word, or a cliche, Hollywood doesnt make them like this anymore, this was a definite bright spot in a dull and dreary movie landscape. BTW, I saw its leading role Edward Norton's profile and pictures at a site called SeniorWoo dot com. I know Edward is very very attracted by Boomer singles. But does he love age match?

I sometimes wonder what movies the crtics were watching when they review a movie. Anyway to this movie. It was well thought out and kept you on the edge of your seat. It make you realize what you were seeing but never watching. Always truly amazing how much you miss when watching a movie. Great movie 4 stars out of 5.

This movie is very good, and it has alot of twist and turns, so from the begining you have to pay attention. the magic tricks are awsome, especially in that period in time too. the movie will keep your attention too and it doesnt drag on and on. well it doesnt have that feeling. def worth renting or buying. also its the type of movie you can watch over and over and over again. just for the magic tricks. just my opinion more reviews comming

I really liked this movie. Im a freshman in high school and we just got done watching it in English. First, we read William Shaksperes The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and watched the older version of the movie (not the version with Alan Rickman as Tybalt, unfortunately) and then we watched The Illusionist. I was really hoping that all his tricks were real, and I still believe! _ I think the acting talents of Edward Norton and Jessica Biel are phonominal! I could watch this a million times over, even knowing the end. In fact, I want to see it again to see if I notice anything I didnt before. I believe that EVERYONE should see it.

I just saw this movie over the weekend...I had heard great things about it from other people...It was one of those movies that after you watch it, you think wow that was a really good movie! I liked the fact that it was a mystery with a hint of romance. The special effects where pretty good as well. I recommend this movie if you have not already seen it..Probably one of Edward Norton and Jessica Biels best movies yet!

I have been a movie goer for more than 50 years, and I continue going to movies with the hope that once in a while I might luck out and see a good movie. I found that good movie in The Illusionist. A great story that had all you would want in a movie acting, suspense, drama, visual effects, and a feel good ending. Anyone who gives this move less than four stars should spend their time watching Saw 1,2 and three.

This is by far one of Edward Nortons best movies EVER! I went to see this movie back in August with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved every minute of it. Edwards acting is amazing. You have to see this movie.....you will love it. The ending is perfect and Ed just looks completely gorgeous. The way he uses his hands........chills go through my spine! If I could, I would not give this movie 5 stars, I would give it 1 trillion stars!!!!!!!!!!

Complementing the magnificent portrayal of Eisenheim, The Illusionist, by Edward Norton, Phillip Glasss musical composition seemingly dances-- intertwines with the sepia lighting and shadows of this moody period piece . Absolutely beautifully made film and memorable acting!!

This is a well crafted, neatly acted movie that satisfies on every count. It is a surprising contrast to The Prestige, which i saw first. Whereas The Prestige was dark and explored obsession and the destructive power of illusions, both personal and professional. . . The Illusionist was a fascinating tale of using illusion to illuminate and ultimately free people from the chains that bind them. Nortons performance was a bit too restrained at times, but his moodiness and physical acting were utterly convincing and helped to carry off the illusions. Giamatti was magnificent as the detective and gave a far more balanced and nuanced performance than I had been led to believe. He was fabulous. Without him in that pivotal role, the film couldnt have worked. SPOILER And how refreshing that here the lovers survive and the Illusion provides them a second chance. Whereas in The Prestige all of the women are murdered or commit suicide. . . leaving the men to their own vicious manipulations and ruin. Wonderful movie. Wish I had see it first!

Good acting by all. Film moves quickly but with some unexplained parts. Surprise ending does not fill in some flaws-gaps.

True entertainment and will become a classic! Clean and beautifully acted by all. The cinematography was awe and the music ohh. Yet, the most impressive was the old style of movie making used on this film. I guess theres still some hope Hollywood will go back to making movies such as The Illusionist which has heart yet enjoyable too!
